Disney Room assignment strategy concerning large groups

We have stayed at value resorts about 80% of the time we have been to WDW, and have been quite fortunate when it comes to room location and peacefulness. I always worry that will get stuck in the middle of a block of hyper teenage insomniacs, but we have never had an issue with noise after bedtime.

I was wondering if Disney has any sort of strategy in trying to sort families with small children, couples, groups, etc. It may seem like a complicated thing to do, but I wouldn't put it past them to try to keep as many people as happy as possible.

They may. Or it may just be random luck, The last time I was there, I was at POFQ and was assigned a room where the room next door was under repairs. Never heard a sound coming from the room next door (more than likely they started well after we left and finished before we got back), so it was quiet.

This may answer your question in a round-about way, but, my next door neighbors are teachers who often chaperone their school group trips to WDW. All trips have been to an All-Star Resort.

They tell me that when the rooms are assigned, all student rooms are on the same side of one (or more) or more buildings, so that the chaperones can sit in the courtyard facing the building to keep an eye on the doors of the rooms. The rooms usually span multiple floors, but all face the same courtyard. I believe it is highly unlikely that a family would be put in that block of rooms.

I suppose it depends on the size of the group too.

I hope that helps.
