Disney Rookie Questions

Hi - I hope I am posting this in the right forum but I'm looking for any advice that Disney "experts" can offer. I will be going to Disney with my husband and daughter as well as a friend of ours and her son. Should we link all of our tickets to one Disney account for Fastpass reservations, etc..? Or should we do two separate accounts for each family? The kids may want to do one or two fastpass activities together but they may want to do something separate also...could we do this if we are all linked to one account? Also - do people generally recommend purchasing the Memory Maker package? If so, would we have to purchase one time for our whole group or pay once per family? Thanks so much for any guidance!

Are you all staying in the same hotel room? Or two rooms? Sounds like a silly question, but there is method to my madness.

Create two accounts, one for each family. Then you can link the accounts together. This also helps separate things like Magicband charges and room closeout (where you'll settle your Magicband charges). You can link the two together to share (and make) dining and FP+ reservations together.

When you go to link the accounts, and things don't seem to be working right (I had trouble with it last year), just contact Disney Support. They were really good about getting it all "unmessed" for me last year when I had a similar setup (2 parties in 2 rooms).

The kids may want to do one or two fastpass activities together but they may want to do something separate also...could we do this if we are all linked to one account?

Each individual of your party can make their own FP+ choices.

Also - do people generally recommend purchasing the Memory Maker package?

The Photographers at Disney will take pictures of you and your family with your own camera without blinking an eye. HOWEVER, Memory Maker is a GREAT value if you foresee yourself wanting to purchase "special pictures" in particular. By those, I mean on-ride photos and certain restaurants (1900 Park Fare, for example) which sell a picture package with the characters after the meal. MM includes those already. So, if you are interested in those and see yourself buying a lot of those, MM is a good deal for that.

If so, would we have to purchase one time for our whole group or pay once per family? Thanks so much for any guidance!
That's a good question. I believe you are going to have to pay once per family, but I've never heard of someone trying to link MM to TWO different MDE accounts. Perhaps someone else will have a better idea?

when we went a few years ago we had 8 in our group and had one photo pass prepurchased. Not sure if you can still do that with Memory Maker. We did end up with just the one set of CD's but were able to print as many copies of each photo we wanted. Before I paid that hefty price twice I'd call and ask.

Yeah, it worked for the old PP because that was just a standalone card system...

I'm really not sure if MM+ will allow that as it's now tied to MDE.

It's a great question that I'm burning to know the answer to! Maybe I'll just call myself!

For the MM...as long as you're in each others friends and family lists and have the option checked where it gives permission to see and purchase each others photos, one MM will work for both families. Once your MDE accounts are set up, you will ned to connect via email or you won't see the option about sharing and purchasing photos.

Friends of friends cannot, but people in your friends and family list can as long as it sets up correctly.

Sortof.

The question that is more accurate isn't can they be shared (which is what you addressed), but can they be assigned without an extra MM setup.

For example, two MDE accounts, one for family A, one for family B.

Family A buys MM+ and it's assigned to the MBs through their stay. They use it all over the place, and share the photos through "friends and family" with Family B. Family B can then access their photos.

However, Family B, if they go off on their own and try and assign a photo (say, a Splash Mountain on ride photo) to Family A's MM+ account using their MBs, I'm fairly confident they will not be able to.

What you linked allows you to share photos, NOT MM+ access while in park or assignments to MBs.

If that's correct and you've done this first hand, that's great news. But, I'm skeptical (and, I read the same FAQs you did and thought the same, but didn't post it here because I don't think that's exactly what the OP is asking).

I still am fairly confident, while they can share access to photos, in order to have MM work for both parties when NOT together (and therefore not able to use someones MB to link to MM from the party who has it), they'll need two MM+ setups.

What is you don't have magic bands for tickets?
You can:

1) Buy bands
2) Be issued a card for MM+ (and or your RFID card will probably work...they were in transition when I was there last and MM+ still had the option of it's own card...but I believe now, they'll tie it to your MDE which will be activated by your RFID (be it card or band)...

thanks. Last summer I was the only one in my group with an issue with our MB's so I was opting not to wear one this time around.
