On our last visit in August lots of People where being questioned and we even saw people being asked to leave.
Guests where asked to show their room keys inorder to get towels at the contemporary.

Maybe with staff layoffs and less guests they may relax a little

We got questioned at POR this year. so I am pretty sure they don't want you pool hopping. My 2 fave pools are The poly or AKL, but I really don't think you'd get in there.

The Beach Club and Yacht Club pool is one of the best and most popular pools on Disney property.

Because of the popularity of it, people that stay off property and at other resorts are always trying to sneak in this pool.

Be advised: Disney WILL check to see if you are a Beach Club or Yacht Club guest and they WILL kick you out of you are not.

I have stayed there 3 times and they checked my ID TWICE.

It is a random check so you may be able to slip by but just so you know...do so at your own risk..I have seen pool hoppers escorted off the premises. It looked pretty embarassing to me.:(

I've pool hopped to almost every pool in WDW, never been questioned.

Ya, if you go in looking suspicious, they MIGHT question you.

I just go to the pool and use the resorts towels, and leave with the towels.

But how do you get a towel Lance this year in the Poly and the Comp, you had to show your resort ID if you didn't have it they asked for your room number and checked on the computer. In years gone by towels where just in a box but things are changing rapidly now and IMHO its right, why should people pay for a value resort but think they can use the facilities of a Delux, I mean isn't that what your paying for.

In august,

For the Polynesian, we were at the volcano pool and we asked the lifeguard where the towels were?(he told us the spiel, your suppose to show your id for towels) So I booked over to the other Poly pool and just grabbed a bunch of towels, no id, no guard, nothing, and went back to the volcano pool.

When we stayed at the Contemporary this august, we didn't once show any id or anything for a towel.

Lance...just curious

Is this like a GAME for you? Why can't you just swim at the resort you are staying at? ALL the Disney property pools are more than sufficient for cooling off and relaxing so why do you feel the need to pool hop knowing it's not allowed? I don't GET it.:veryconfu

I take it you hopped right over the counter that is usually manned by a member of staff, grabbed a couple of towels and popped back over, did you do that at the refreshment bar as well:animwink:

The contemporary towels are in a box about 10 feet away from the sand bar, no one guards it?? Did they move it since August??????

My family isn't wealthy, so we have to do something during vacation that DOESN"T COST A LOT of MOULA. So we pool hop and go to the different resorts. I am perfectly CONTENT with going around walking around the resorts all day.

Most of my pool hopping comes when we stay at my uncles house in Orlando, so when we stay at a WDW resort, the pool hopping isn't as much.

I think we'll agree to differ on this one Lance when we where in the Contemporary from 8th August-29th August, the towels where most definately not in a box, but where in a kiosk, but who know's maybe we stayed in a different contemporary:animwink:

I agree with you... I wouldn´t waste my time at the pools... but they are very tempting in the hot summer of Florida. I would say that if you have lots of time, then spoil yourself in them, if not, wait ´til u get home! hehe... ;)

When you have children they want to SWIM!!!!! Additionally, it is tough to bring small kids to the parks every day of a vacation.

It is rather nice to spend every other day at the pools if the time allows. This way the kids are having a great time and the parents get to relax.

As a note, we were there 2 weeks ago and visited various pools using our DVC membership. Let it be known that the Poly, the Beach/Yacht Club and Contemporary were checking cards. The B&Y Club were also placing a yellow wristband on each person allowed into the area.

We watched a couple of people who came in through a gateway get the boot. Be careful.

power to the pools

i used to think the pools were a waste of time, but my last disney trip really changed my mind.

we travel to disney quite often, so this past trip we decided to really take it easy... sleep late, enjoy the resort as well as the parks - and let me just say it was one of the best times i've ever had at wdw. it was great to just kick back in the pool and take a moment to just relax amidst all the 'magic'...

we were more than content with the pool at the wilderness lodge, so no pool hopping was done - but i'll tell all you would-be hoppers, you've got a fairly good chance of swimming undetected by disney during the week as towels were easily grabbed, but on the weekend there were castmembers handing them out...

We discovered the same thing. We now schedule one day a week (and two for the first week if it's a multi-week stay) for pure relaxation. Nothing beats the pools for this.
