Disney Reservation Number

This may be a bit of a stupid question, but when booking a trip quite a way in advance are you given your Disney Reservation number straight away?

Reason I ask is I am travelling from the UK and not until late in 2015 and have been told by Virgin that they issue the Disney Res number about 180 days before but I want mine way before that to get myself set up etc even though I know I cannot book dining etc

We have always got a confirmation number upon booking, we bookd our last trip 1 year out, but we did not use a travel agency, we bookd directly with disney....

We also book directly through Disney (by phone or online). Usually in Dec. for the following Aug. and have always been given our confirmation number right away.

Virgin are allocated a number of rooms so you are guaranteed what you reserve (generally, unless there is a legitimate reason not to do so). However, they do not send their room reservation list through to Disney until much nearer the 180 day mark, so when you make a reservation a long time in advance of the travel dates, you are unable to receive the Disney reservation numbers for MDE and such as they don't exist till the time Disney receive the details. Fortunately there is no real need to have the reservation linked until 180 days when dining reservations come available, but keep checking with them. It could happen sooner or later, I've known them have the number available both 9 months out and also not until just over 6 months out.

I've booked my last two trips with Virgin, both 13 months in advance. I usually ask for my Disney reservation number within a couple of months of booking, and I've had it both times within a couple of days of asking.

I know we always provide our clients with the Disney resort reservation number specifically so they can start the My Disney Experience set up. Marie

Thanks for the info, have plenty of time so think I will wait until Jan maybe and then ring Virgin and ask for number again
