Disney Reservation Deposit

Does Disney still let you do a courtesy hold on a room with out making a deposit? I recall a long time ago you can hold a reservation for two weeks and then make the deposit as long as your stay was outside 30 days.

Last year they let me hold rooms for one night without a deposit. The reservation agent said that was their limit - but I supposed it probably depsnds who you speak to!

Generally no they wont..not to say it cant happen, 200.00 deposit is the norm with the balance due 45 days from arrival.....or if inside that window..they will tell you payment in full with in 24 hours is needed. I have worked around this a couple times..made an impromptu trip inside that 45 day window...was able to put 1500.00 down and pay the balance a few days later. Had to ask for a supervisior to make that call...but it was easy enough...

This is a tough one. So here are 2 different things that my DH and experienced. We wanted to make a reservation about 4 years ago or so. We wanted to pay for the deposit with a check, rather then a debit or credit card. So we told them we would be sending in a check and they said they had 2 weeks to send in a check. We ended up paying with a debit card b/c they said that the turn around time for sending a check to applying it to your reservation could be up to 30 business days. But in theory, they would "hold" the reservation for two weeks as they waited for a check.

The 2nd situation was when I was booking tickets and a room for my mom and I. I was told by the cast member she would hold this "deal" that popped up on the screen. It was a room only deal and we would be paying for our tickets separately. I needed to contact my mom to confirm so I hung up, spoke to my mom, and called right back to book it. Oh my goodness, the hoops we had to jump through. There was "no" holding they said when I called back. So basically we lost it. I did end up getting it back again but we had to talk to the supervisor and go through huge hoops. This situation is a bit different b/c we were wanting to book a special rate that popped up that some time you get when talking to a cast member and you don't book right then and there. Its an offer that the computer generates and isn't really an offer for everyone. But the point is, the original cast member said she would "hold" it and she didn't/couldn't. And b/c it was a special rate, I couldn't just "book" it and send a check. It needed to be paid in full that moment. So if you really want to book something, then just book it.

Unfortunately its a crap shoot when calling for reservations...as some CM's are earning a paycheck and wont do anyhting wrong as in they are "straight by the book" "letter of the law" types...who "could" go the extra mile but dont. I certainly cant complain about them...much like the person "driving the speed limit on the nose" It may irritate me...but they are technically doing nothing wrong....I gnerally can tell early on in the conversation which breed of CM I have on the other end....the "helpful" Im going to do everything to get you what you want...or the " if you dont ask the exact questions you're screwed type" Ill simply hang up and hit redial....If I know Im about to ask for something outside the box....Ill ask immediately for a supervisor..and take notes on names...and direct numbers

Good rule of thumb is to just have the $$ when you are ready to call and check on a booking.

I have in the past got quotes from online and saved the quote. However not sure how long that quote is saved before its dumped. Was saving the quotes to compare diffrent options.
