Let’s be real, outside of opening a new park as well, nothing can compete with a brand new park opening. Trying to compete would be wasted resources and should be focused on the year or two after Epic.
You don't need to convince people that are coming down for the new park to go to Disney instead, you need to convince them to go ALONG WITH going to Epic. If people are coming down to Universal for a week, the discounts they offer for multi-day tickets will looks a lot better than spending big on tickets to Universal and then big on Disney for a bunch of stuff you've ridden before.
