Wait, wait, wait ~ You renewed an AP?? And continued to feed the machine you continuously complain about?
Is the surprising though?

Many of the biggest complainers on here seem to constantly be down there on trips, going to after parties, buying APs, and are DVC owners.

On one hand it makes sense as they are likely the most invested fans, but it is also hard to take someone seriously when all they do is complain yet keep shelling out money all while telling everyone else how wrong they are for doing the same thing.

Those of us locked into DVC either need to go every year, have to pawn our points onto someone else (Disney still gets money), or sell the timeshare. Otherwise, you can just go and stay on site and never go to the parks and just treat it as any other vacation resort.

I originally had said that I'd like to go to the parks less days, yet somehow I get roped into going more because Disney forces you to use your tickets in such a short period of time. You have people coming to go to the park with you a week after you get there and suddenly you need a 5 day ticket in order to spread it over 8 days. It's so anti-consumer.
This is one of the reasons I'm never buying DVC lol. I'm sorry your stuck in that contract.

If people no longer see value in a Disney vacation at certain prices, they won’t go.

Telling people not to go as a price-sensitive boycott because Scrooge McDuck raised prices is silly.

I don’t care about “sending a message” to Disney about price increases, I want to enjoy a Disney vacation and if that still makes sense for me financially, then it still makes sense.

People spend $1000s a year on season tickets to sporting events, $1000s on concerts, $1000s adding to their gun collections.

Everyone does what they want how they want it, no one likes price increases, but the anti-capitalist stance of “boycott anyone that raises the prices” is laughable.

This is a defensive post, but like how no one wants a Disney CFO telling us we need to lose weight, we also don’t need people to tell us how to spend our money. It’s the same thing for everything. I see it among College and professional sport fandoms, restaurant fans, stores, etc.

Everyone loses customers naturally after price increases. I’m not going to make my life worse by taking some meaningless anti-capitalist position against large corporations in a supposed fight against “greed.” It’s silly
I totally see what you mean. If you see the value in going and still enjoy than by all means go. I didn't mean to say "boycott Disney" just that if you're unhappy with how things are being run and how much things cost. Don't give them your money, if you don't have problem with the price then by all means go.

You do realize that a lot of people bought into DVC 15, 20, or even 30 years ago, right? And being a DVC owner does not automatically mean one spends a week or more in the parks every year.

Of course, but it does mean those folks are paying the yearly maintenance fees which on anything other than the smallest contracts is going to be at least a thousand+ a year at this point. Even if they aren't using those points, someone is going to or they expire and then Disney will. No matter what, Disney is still getting money from or through that owner.

Maybe it is just me, but if I was so upset over something that I felt the need to complain about it for years, I would just be done with it. It is a CHOICE to spend money on anything Disney and one many of these people are continuing to make while trying to dump on others for doing the same thing.

Wouldn't it be great if we could all treat everything as purely a business, transactional relationship with no emotion, like Mr. Spock in Star Trek.

Most (not all) humans don't work that way.

Many fans of sports teams, love their teams, but complain abut them, because they are emotionally invested.

Many Disney fans are emotionally invested in the brand.

That does not make it easy, it makes it....... Complicated. In my opinion

Absolutely true! I am passionate about the product...Always have been since my first visit in 1971... I have seen a lot of changes...Some good, some not so good. I applaud them when they do wonderful things...but I will not applaud and cheer for some of the more recent bone-headed money grabs. That doesn't mean I hate the product...

I recently upgraded my ticket to an annual pass a couple weeks ago since it would pay for itself versus getting 3 different tickets on multiple trips that (my friends and) I have planned for the next year. Plus the discounts on hotel, merch, and food.

This is also my first ever AP!

Also got an annual pass-specific survey in my email after my recent visit using my AP for the first time. It's very tedious (and annoying) paying $1.5k+ for an Incredipass then having to go through the motions of booking park reservations. They need to ditch this like they did for regular day tickets. I also expressed my dissatisfaction with the system with guest services when I picked up my physical AP at Animal Kingdom.

Agree with this. I won’t complaint about price increases, I have the option to not purchase. However, as an Incredipass holder from 1200 miles away that is always staying on property I should not have to book a park reservation!
