Disney Quest: Refurbish or Replace?

I think everyone agrees that Disney Quest at the moment needs something doing to it, but would you rather see the site get refurbished with the games fixed and new ones added. Or would you rather see it scrapped and replaced entirely with something new?

I guess the NBA Experience fell through then, huh? If they can do a decent job refurbishing it, then keep it. Otherwise either replace it , or just make it a patch of grass.;)

Disney Springs is an entertainment district, right? I like that this area has bowling lanes, a theatre complex, Cirque and other offerings besides more shops and restaurants. Do we really need another restaurant. Have they not just added fifteen new restaurants (actual number unknown). I have been to the NBA restaurant at Universal and the best thing about the experience is the basketball interactive area similar to which Disney Quest already has.

There is wonderful charm inside Disney Quest. The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction is very well presented and much of the five floors is full of Disney Theming. It is a great way to burn a couple hours on our Downtown Disney day with the kids. Believe me, kids love this place. My four made sure that it was always on our itinerary, and we have done it ever year. We will miss it.

Disney Quest does need new love. Disney does a poor job of advertising and promoting this venue. It is as if the Higher Ups gave up on it years ago. If the Imagineers can reboot attractions and shows, surely they can tweak or re-invent Disney Quest. But please, not another restaurant.

I'm all for nostalgia, but I haven't felt compelled to enter. The kids have gone using the MYW vouchers. I don't see a refurbishment convincing me to pay up either way.

I think that all Disney Quest needs is a little love. As much as I would love to see this place updated with new technology, that sadly seems like it will never happen. Disney Quest is a unique place. It's a break from all of the shops and restaurants. If the place was replaced, it would be replaced by even more of that. Disney Quest has cool concepts like CyberSpace Mountain, but they need refurbishments. I even made a half-hour video of it should it be closed. Disney Quest can be a fun place if Disney actually cared about it.

I thought I heard that they were getting rid of Disney Quest a while ago?
I remember going as a kid (that would be like 11 years ago now) and loved it. In Summer when the weather is so hot, it was good to go inside and do something fun and get out of the heat for a day. I remember having a great time, but I haven't been for over 10 years so couldn't pass judgement on what it's like now :/
Although if it hasn't been updated for a long while, it could probably do with something like that. It has potential to be great! A good alternative to outdoor parks in the blazing heat

Last I went was in 2001. And the technology was becoming outdated then. Something unique and creative could easily replace DisneyQuest.

Well Disney Springs has World of Disney which I believe is still the biggest Disney store. How about a "World of DVC"? The worlds largest DVC kiosk!

If an IP were to be used, I'd vote for Wreck-It Ralph.

A major refurb would be amazing.. The only problem with this is that DisneyQuest really needs to be majorly "refurbbed" at LEAST twice a year... Because video games are always changing and always becoming more impressive.. And that is the reason why it is in its current state to begin with. Disney not changing hardly anything AT ALL since opening.

The least they could do is have everything in working order. During my last visit, I rode CyberSpace Mountain and the video wasn't recorded. I rode again, but the video was only partially recorded (first 5 seconds, that is). I also got in line for the Astro Blaster multiple times that day. The ride broke down every single time. This place has great potential, if only Disney did something about it.

they should approach Microsoft,Sony, and Nintendo(yes I know that USO is working with Nintendo)
to have them bring in game consoles and games for people to try like E3 and put a store at the exit so people can buy products

I never understood why Disney couldn't find a way to make DisneyQuest work.
Small-format, technology-based amusements and demonstrations like it opened with are still plentiful, and it shouldn't be that hard for Disney to be able to afford to acquire this kind of stuff on a rolling basis.
One possible format for Disneyquest I've thought about is for Disney to reach out to various tech/game developers who are already churning out portable, crowd-pleasing interactive booth displays for various tech shows like E3 and PAX. Make Disneyquest a landing pad for some of the better ones and keep them around for a year or three. Buying some of this stuff used would be chump change compared to what it probably costs Disney to develop anything similar in-house.

I always thought that the problem is the fact that WDW has a bad habit of this... Once they open a brand new impressive expansion/attraction, they completely forget about it a few months after it opens and move on. That, being the fate of DisneyQuest. Kind of the same fate of Innoventions, Ellen's Energy Adventure, Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, Ect... They'll just continue to operate until they slooooowly start to realize that these attractions either need to be replaced altogether or get a massive refurb if they're a headliner.

This probably wouldn't have happened if DisneyQuest hadn't gotten folded into the theme parks, water parks, and more tickets. Since it's seen as a value-add to the parks and never has to move tickets to justify its existence, it doesn't even have to meet the low standards of the in-park attractions. No one has bothered with DisneyQuest for years except first-time families with kids, and even then only on rainy days.
