Disney Quest - Is it worth checking out?

Hi Everyone,

I have been reading the posts for a few months now in anticipation of my trip coming up July 30-Aug 6. So exciting!!! I find this site very informative. I thought it was about time I join the action

I am pretty sure we are buying the 7 day park hopper pass with fun option. So I am wondering if Disney Quest is worth checking out and if we were to go how much time to plan staying there.

Thanks for all of the great info and tips so far.

If rides that spin (i.e. the Teacups, Magic Carpets, Dumbo) make me a little ill, how would I do on DQ rides? Are the simulators dizzying? Just wondering! Thanks!

I'm a 52 year old father of an 8 year old daughter. I love the roller coasters, but tight spins and virtual reality really do a number on my stomach. But there are a lot of games that are quite tranquil and even an old guy like myself can enjoy.

My daughter loves it all though and we visited DQ on out past 2 trips to WDW. We were there the week following Thanksgiving in 2004 and 2005, and will be returning that same week again this year.

My wife is an hemodialysis patient and has her 3 hour treatments scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The clinic is in Celebration and we stay at All Star Music.

We drive down from Atlanta so we have our own transportation while at the parks all week. The days my wife has treatments we drive her to the clinic and instead of having to wait 3 hours for her, I take my daughter over to DQ for a few hours and she loves every minute of it. It gives us some dad and daughter time together without mom.

DQ provides us with an alternative to going back to the room and waiting for mom during her dialysis, and with only about 2 hours of free time after you figure the round trip commute to Celebrity, we really would'nt have time for much at any of the parks before we'd have to find our way back to the car and return to pick up my wife.

The rest of the week, ie, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, I pack a day filled itinerary for us from open to close when my wife is feeling at full strength. On treatment days she can be left feeling a bit weak, so we tend to do more shows or even a day over at Typhoon Lagoon where she can lounge around the beach ( really !!! last year it was 80 degrees on December 1st)

So if you're into virtual reality, gaming and the likes and your feet are a bit weary from all the walking in the parks, or the weather is bad for the day, then DQ is the place to go.

And for an old dad like myself, even if I'm not playing all the games, seeing the smiles on my little girl's face while mom can't be with us makes it worth every minute to me.

Thanks for the info! Glad that, even with health problems, it's still easy enough to go to Disney and have a great time! I bet your daughter loves spending the afternoon with Dad!:)
