Look at the map a few posts above, it actually is. That's the Flamingo Crossing land.
Flamingo crossings is planned for the other side of 429. That piece of land is not and has never been owned by Disney, it was added to the RCID some time ago. This is why it is on this map since this is RCID map, but that doesn't mean Disney owns it or has any ability to use it.

RCID essentially is Disney for most all intents and purposes. Also, FC was to be on the west side of 429 on part of that land, and the roads had been paved/started for it quite a while ago. I believe a CVS is being built there in the near future.

Yes but the CVS is actually on the east side of the high way when you exit I beleive. There is also a fence with nice corner stones on theat property I gues that part of construction was compelted or contracted a head of time.

It seems your right, I never really paid much attention to FC so I wasn't aware. My map is a little outdated so I'm not sure if Disney purchased the land and will then resell it or if Reedy Creek will be selling the portions on the west side. Interestingly RCID website says that Orange Lake Country club is also contributing to the project, so it sounds like it's a joint effort.

Regardless of the myths RCID is a public government, while Disney has the largest influence they are independent from Disney.

Disney owns RCID, they own this land. They could use this land at anytime, which is how FC was planned and partly built.

It is impossible for an individual or a company to "own" a public government. They have a strong relationship with RCID but they don't own it.

I like this map though, where did you find it?

Only independent in technicalities. The District exists solely to provide the Walt Disney Company with a means to more tightly control their land with minimum interference by the local counties of and cities in Orange and Osceola. It was created by the Company for that specific purpose and regardless of what statements they may put out to provide the face of a form of government it remains basically an arm of the company in practice and purpose. The residents of the District aren't random people who chose to live there, they're practically picked by some relationship to the Company to ensure their votes, no matter how insignificant, don't clash with the will/votes of the Company creating a possible bad PR situation (the local outlets would jump all over that possible story).

RCID is a puppet setup by disney. The land that rcid occupies was bought by disney. The residents of RCID are disney employees. RCID will act and publish the required annual reports it needs to like any other municipality, but it is really only that in name only. This is also why celebration was deannexed from rcid, disney would not have been able to keep full control of rcid.

That map is on the orange county site for property searches. They have a wealth of information with different changes in ownership.

I could see the sentinel's editors foaming at the mouth for some people to go rogue. Though really the only thing that would really mess with disney is if celebration was annexed back to rcid and those 7,000+ residents had a vote and a voice on what happens at wdw.

Yes but they are still held to certain standards as a public government. Land that they own is public land, now Disney could use their influence with the district to purchase land from them but until then it is treated like public land. RCID recently acquired the I-4 ROW through the district, this doesn't mean Disney owns I-4 or could use it for their own purposes. Interestingly in researching this FC project a little I just realized that they plan to keep the FC area a part of RCID instead of de-annexing as they have done in the past. This will mean that other businesses will be a part of RCID and other landowners will have a voice within the district beyond just Disney.

Yes, but the purpose wasn't just to build a community but to build a special type of community that would always be testing and pushing the technological envelope. If you've never seen it you should take the time to watch the film, it's a little under half an hour and will completely change your perspective of Walt's plans for Florida.

THANK YOU...

I have never seen this in its full complete video!

If you look at the population numbers for Lake Buena Vista you'll notice a sudden surge from about 50-60 residents up to almost 2,000 after Vista Way opened in 1988, and then after the 1990 census that small portion was de-annexed. I believe they did the same with the Little Lake Bryan area except for the Cast recreation area and they managed to hold onto ownership of the land through some kind of "outside" company/ownership arrangement (Little Lake Bryan is included in owned/controlled land on internal Disney property maps I've seen, as are the rest of undeveloped/"unowned" District lands.

Any of the businesses in the district lease the land, just like how it is done at dtd. FC was just a suburban dtd, with all 3rd parties leasing land to build hotels, restaurants, and stores.

Yeah, about 100 votes to Disney's...30,000+ votes (resident voting power I believe is a little under 50 votes). And actually, I don't believe the third parties building in FC would have voting rights, they would just be leasing the land or be allowed to build there by Disney without any real transfer of ownership/control more than likely. I believe this (or a similar arrangement) is how no third parties in DTD have District rights.

EDIT: Flavious beat me to it.
