Disney Pool question

A week from right now we will be in the middle of our drive down to WDW. Can't wait.

Being late November early December I assume the resort pools are still open, are they heated at all? Any idea what the temperatures of the pools are, or is it weather dependent?

We are driving to Florida from southern Ontario, usually end up in Jacksonville Florida around 9pm for the night, then on to WDW the next morning. We never book a hotel since we don't always know how far we will make it. Since next weekend is US Thanksgiving are we going to have trouble getting a hotel room last minute on the Saturday night?

Re hotels: we always book in advance if we're travelling near holiday times.

The Disney pools are heated year round. In summer they can feel TOO warm. The problem isn't the water temp, but the air temps when you get out of the pool. Bring along something warmish to put on for the trek back to your room.

Last year we went in early January. We swam a little (yes the pools are heated) since the pools were empty, but once you get out you will need warm shoes and a robe.

people from the warmer areas find it way too cold to swim at that time of the year. People who are coming from where the snow is flying and the temps are frigid find 70 degrees quite warm and end up at the pool! The water is warm but, yes, the air when you get out will be quite cold feeling.

WDW keeps the pools at a constant temp year round. I think it's something like 85F, but don't hold me to that. They will however close the pools when it does get too cold, not sure if it's a safety thing for the life guards, or just assuming no one wants to swim when it's just over freezing and they redeploy the CMs to other roles. As PP's have said, it's not so much the water temps that will get you, but the air temps when you get out of the pool.

You should be ok finding a hotel room Sat night. Most of the travel will be Weds/Thurs/Fri night. If you stop at one of those exits that has 2 or 3 different hotels, I'd be shocked if you couldn't find something, and most likely find something at each.
