This may be old news but I haven’t seen it anywhere else. It appears that Disney Plus is now available to stream directly on TV’s at the resorts. When we stayed at AKL in September this was NOT an option but at check in today at WL when we got in the room it was available.

I know many folks have had questions about this so I thought I’d mention it.

This is nice news, but I've also heard they removed the option to cast other streaming services. Is that true?

I’m in the lobby waiting on a Flippers delivery but I’ll let you know once I’m back. Honestly I can’t remember.

They do seem to have the TV locked down some way now to where a Roku/Chromecast stick won’t work either. It will not load in HDMI 2/3 and if you pull out HDMI 1 which is their box it will load but then the remote won’t work and the volume is stuck at 100 and the Roku remote won’t respond.

Might make some business sense to have a complimentary 24 hour trial for in-room TVs. Long enough to get you hooked on a series, short enough to not let you get through most of it and compel you to subscribe to watch at home.

Really, it's like inviting someone to stay at your house for the weekend, then charging them a fee for watching your cable.

Very low class. Bad show, as Walt would have put it.
It’s absolutely nothing like that, as WDW is a business which has the goal of making money, and inviting someone to stay at your house isn’t.

This is in addition to the fact that most major hotels like Marriot and Hilton do the same thing where they provide access on their tvs to streaming services, but you still have to log in with your own account.

If they’re in the business of “making money” then they should make it free during your stay but you need a credit card for your free trial during that stay and you can choose to keep it after your stay by not cancelling. This isn’t “good business strategy,” it’s just laziness on the part of their IT department.

Marriotts and Hiltons don’t own their own streaming service.

You’re on vacation at WDW, so I doubt you’re watching every episode of Loki. But, you might watch one episode, say, “this is good!” and subscribe when you’re back home.

Some sort of free trial is a no-brainer. Make a special version that exclusively shows DVC ads…
Disney is a terrible Pixie Dust dealer. Everyone knows you have to make sure the guest's first hit is free. Then when they're hooked that's when you get them.
