Disney plans MORE layoffs

The timing really stinks, but keep in mind that Disney is a business that intends to make money, just like any other business. If it doesn't make money, then it has to go bankrupt. Look at it this way - if they didn't lay off people then they'd eventually accrue enough debt to force them to close completely. That would be so great, would it?!

Sorry for all of those folks that will be losing their job at Xmas though. That is just sad

A few problems with these notions:

Disney's new theme song should be entitled: "the Circle of Death" with a subtitle of the Story of Michael Eisner's destruction of the Walt Disney Company.

1. Disney is a business, but it is/was a business that did things differently. It always made quality and service a top priority. These things have suffered tremendously over the past several years, and so has Disney's bottom line. People expect the best service/quality when it comes to Disney, and when they don't get it, they stop patronizing the company. Then the company's response is: "since were not getting as many guests/customers, then we need to cut budgets/service/quality." This is the worst thing for the company and is one of the many things that Roy didn't agree with as evidenced in his resignation letter and efforts to restore the company. This continued notion of cutting to save money has only resulted and less and less profit and less and less positive PR for the company. This process has got to start to resurect the company and its good name. If you look at the prices of theme park admission alone they have gone to the extreme and outpaced the increases that should have been made thus pricing Disney out of the market of too many consumers. Look at admission prices starting just ten years ago and the increase has been insane. This has got to stop especially when you start opening areas later and later, closing attractions seasonally, and everything else all to the irritation and dissatisfaction of guests who won't be returning. This is a BIG BIG mistake!

2. The problems stated above are not strictly limited to theme parks. The Disney Stores have turned into cheap crappy toy stores that fewer and fewer people patronize because the quality/selection of merchandise is an absolute joke! ABC continues to have major problems. Feature Animation has been gutted over the past few years to the point that (again with the Circle of Death) the movies almost continuously lose more and more money. Additionally, they have NO budget for storyline development and NO budget for Soundtrack/Songwriting----2 hallmarks of Disney's great animation. The company makes 500,000 of its most loyal customers irrate over the destruction of the Disney Club for the worthless Disney Visa card.

3. Michael Eisner's homeruns of the 1980s and early 1990s don't help with 2003 and beyond. His actions in the past five years have disastous effects throughout the corporation, and because the entire corporation has been suffering, blame has to rest with its CEO. Thanks Michael but it's time for new management and leadership. (I of course will gladly volunteer!:D ) Look at alll of the corporate sponsors/partnerships that Disney has lost over the past several years----all of these things add up to one thing: Michael Eisners stewardship is destroying the Walt Disney Company!:fork: :fork: :fork:

Goodbye Eisner!
