Well, I think what Eisner says is always wrong now. He said there weren't going to be another attaction inspired movie after Pirates of the Carribean 2 & 3!! Well, he was wrong....(From ComingSoon.net and 'The Hollywood Reporter'):

Disney Books a Jungle Cruise

The Hollywood Reporter says that another Disney theme park ride, Jungle Cruise, is being turned into an action-adventure feature.

On Jungle Cruise, riders travel the rivers of the jungle guided by a riverboat skipper, encountering wild animals along the way. The first version of the Jungle Cruise ride was based on Walt Disney's True Life Adventure Series.

The period piece will be developed in the vein of Disney adventure films of the past, adds the trade. "It's completely inspired by and relates to the ride and will contain elements of the ride in the story," said David Hoberman, who will produce the feature.

You can check out a video of the ride, and more info, by clicking here.

Something that tells me that even this is a action/adventure movie, it's going to have 'Haunted Mansion'-like results....

I'm hoping this turns out to be more of a Pirates of the Caribbean type movie. We don't need another one like Haunted Mansion. If they get the right cast, this movie could have potential.

Oh bother. I loved Pirates and I enjoyed Haunted Mansion, but really we don't need to keep going there, ya know? We don't want to ruin the sanctity of these rides.

ooo i don't like this. I don't see how they can do it right, the cruise is supposed to be funny and play off of the fact that everything is fake. What would the movie be like? I loved Pirates (Johnny and Orlando, what a better combination :slurp: ) and Haunted Mansion wasn't sooo bad and Country Bears just plain stunk. I don't see this working, the ride is too comedic for a movie

Pirates was great... haven't seen HM yet, but I don't understand this thought process. Has Eisner run off ALL of the creative people at Disney? What happened to Fantasia? That was creative genious. It's just hard to fathom why there are so few good movies coming out of Disney now.

True! If we want to preserve the originality of rides anywhere at Disney, we better stop making movies based on rides. If kids 24 years from now say that the movie is actually what happens in the ride, and the movie stunk, what are they gonna think of the ride??? That it stinks! And we don't want that! We want people to accept rides, not just movies that go along with it!

The ride IS too comedic to become an action/adventure movie! I gawked at the thought that:

1) That there was another attraction based ride and
2) That it would be action/adventure movie, because the jungle skippers on the ride do COMEDIC stunts, not actiony stunts!

True. That's what I think Eisner is doing now. He is s__________g away the creative juices of people he turned down scripts from, just to save money and use other things have already been invented, and just change the whole idea of what it was originally!

I've always thought this would make a great movie. They could get really big stars, like Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn, to be in it and call it something like "The African Queen". Then we could see how creative Disney under Ei$ner really is.

If there ever is a Jungle Cruise movie, I only hope that it will inspire the powers that be at Disney to move the cruise to AK and put some real animals in the attraction....that would be great in my opinion and would open up space in Adventureland for a great E-Ticket and maybe a smaller attraction aswell....

Why stop the movie tie-ins? POTC did very well so they are going to try it again and again.....

I dont have a problem with this at all. I love POTC and I thought that it was going to be horrible...

I personally like the idea of some of the attractions being the centerpiece of a movie idea. I haven't seen Haunted Mansion yet, but the Wife and I loved Pirates. Saw it twice in theaters and then bought the dvd. I think if done right, these ideas can really work. And in the long run if they do, then it's good for everyone connected with, and fans of, Disney.

Anyone have the same thoughts? And if so, what are some of your ideas for movies using current WDW attractions.

The reason why I am against this is because many of these rides were great and amazing ideas created by the imagineers themselves, not created by the Authors and film writers.

Jungle Cruise also is a lot more original even with itself being based off a movie. This is due to the fact that Jungle Cruise was based off a documentary.

This now makes me sad. What ride with an intriging story at any Disney has not been touched with a movie/TV show?

Only 2 open attractions I can think of are the Timekeeper and CoP.
