Disney Planning Dvd?

Just curious… Is there any benefit to signing up to receive the free Disney planning dvd? I'm not talking from a "knowledge" of the parks type benefit… I'm pretty much talking strictly financial and or perks benefits. I've been to the parks my fair share of times and know my way around… and honestly I try to not watch a whole bunch of commercials or specials on what has changed since I've last been there… Hence why I haven't really looked at the pics of new fantasyland… or the new Haunted Mansion queue… I like to be surprised when I get there.. (silly I know… but I'm that way about everything… I like to go into movies, books and television shows blind… No SPOILERS!)… So I probably won't even watch the promotional dvd until after the trip. If I sign up for this dvd will they possibly send us some coupon codes for reduced dining plan or a % off a hotel package? I really want to go this fall, but I'm waiting for some kind of special deal to make my reservation.

Yes the more things you sign up for the more likely you are to get a pin code!

^^^^THIS!^^^^

Sign up for every darn thing you can! Moms board, website in both yours and your spouse's names and frequent those a couple of times a week. Join the movie points rewards, play games, request DVC info... do whatever you can to become a blip on the radar screen. There is no formula that has ever been divulged by TDO but I can say that three out our last four trips we were able to score a PIN and I did all of these things. No guarantees but what the heck is the harm in trying...good luck :)

I wish this was true but I have been ordering the DVDs (for WDW, Cruise, DL and Adventures) pretty much since they started offering them... as well as the custom maps (which I'm not even sure if they do anymore). I've gone 27 times (or so lol) and always used the same email and booked right through Disney's site with it. Never once have I gotten a pin. My step-son's girlfriend ordered custom maps once and gets pin codes 3 or 4 times a year. Luckily she used my e-mail address to order her maps because she didn't want to create an account so the pin codes come to my email and are associated with my address so I can use them anyway. LOL! But yeah... I'm not sure that your chances are really any more increased by signing up for the DVDs.

Never received any bonus things ... BUT...I order them, and I have a cabinet filled with past years so I can loan them out to friends who express an interest in going to Disney. Something fun for them to watch, that helps kick start them imagining how they might want to plan their trip and furthers our Disney conversation.

never got any pins either until this past year. got a couple of them, but they were for times that we couldn't go... oh well....

yes, they still do the customized maps. received our maps a couple of days ago. going to give them to the girls. they should like it. especially the stickers that they can put on them.

Our last 3 trips I sent off for the DVD. I enjoy them. Last trip I did receive a pin code that we used for free dining. What this particular pin code did was give us access to the discount about 2 months before they released the deal to the public. This was important as many of you know b/c each hoteal only reserves a select number of rooms for the deals. Thus once they go public those rooms fill up quick. But I get sent lots of surveys by Disney via email and always fill them out promply. I have no clue what Disney uses as a method to whom receives them and who doesn't. I just do as much as possible and hope for the best.

I signed up for everything, thinking "pin code" and never got one.

Other than the possibility of maybe getting a pin code, I can't see any good reason to order one.

I order the Planning video each year. We have quite a few going back and its fun to see how the parks have changed over the years. We like to put it in the night before to watch.
