I was thinking about this today. My company, like most others, has a setup where you can have your paycheck directly deposited into your bank account. We can also get money deducted and sent to our auto insurance carrier for example.

How great would it be if companies had the same type of setup for Disney World? You know, you could have a certain amount of your check deducted into a Disney World Vacation account.

Am I insane or would anyone else try that out?

it would be nice. I loved being able to wake up and go right to wal-mart and shop...knowing I got paid some time in the middle of the night lol

We do this. My DH has a set amount taken out of each paycheck and it is put into a savings account in his credit union, we use this money to fund our WDW trips each year. We never see the money so we don't really miss it and we're not tempted to spend it.

It's probably the worst idea from a sound personal finance point of view. Sure, let's all give Disney interest free loans! It's the same reason why you should never have too much withdrawn in addition for yearly taxes.... it is an interest free loan to the government.

Word to the wise... take your vacation money... invest it... and find yourself in Disney sooner, longer, or at a nicer resort than you would have been before.

Ok, this is getting a little off topic. However, I actually found the goal of saving up some funds for a Disney trip in an interest bearing (low, but something nonetheless) money market account a great goal and a way to get caught up financially. After saving up the money and NOT using credit cards on a trip, I found I had actually saved up more than enough money.

Slightly off the topic, but has to do with saving for WDW trips.

We don't spend any change. We save it for your trips. We can count on at least $10.00 in change a week. It really adds up!

Somewhere in here (and I'm too lazy to look right now :D ) we had a thread about saving up loose change. My kids use it for spending money, usually about $100-$150/year.
No account has high interest anymore so our credit union acct doesn't pile on the interest, but its better than what we would get if I kept the extra in a box under the bed. *shrugs*

I manage a Bank and I have several customers that set up a savings account and give it a name i.e. Disney account or vacation fund. If your employer won't split your direct deposit into 2 or more accounts then you can have the ban auto transfer the funds on set days each month. I have my house and car payments come out of a secondary that I never touch. thsi way I don't have to worry about having money for the house or the car and I never see the money. It's a really good idea!!! :D

Ummm, not realted whatsoever but just figured I post it. When you work for Disney you can do direct deposit, see what you are getting paid for the week on Monday, and we get paid on Thursday instead of Friday. I love being to see my paycheck online before I get paid, of course now that I am fulltime I pretty much get paid the same week to week as oppose to varying amounts when I was part time. Those are just a couple of reasons I love working for Disney/

Any and every company does that actually.

I always just have my employer take out an extra $50 in taxes. That way, come Feb./March, I get $2,000+ back in federal income taxes.

As was stated before, that is a bad idea. You would be much better off putting that 50 dollars into a savings account and earning interest on it rather than giving the government and interest free loan. That being said, I love getting my tax refund every February. :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Well that's great. I worked for 8 different companies before Disney and was NEVER paid on Thursday and was never able to go online and check my paycheck before I got paid. But guess I happened to work for the only 8 companies that weren't that way.

I think that the seperate money market/savings account is a great idea.

I have a savings account at ING that pays 2% interest(one of the best rates for a savings acct I have found), it also gives you a few bucks for signing up. If anyone wants the link let me know, I'll send it to you. This will help my Disney fund too, ING gives you a few more dollars for referring people.

With the Disney credit card you get 1% return on $0 invested. There are no fees.
