Disney Park in TX in the news again

There's a reason these rumors keep popping up year after year. There's clearly pent-up demand for a Disney vacation site in the middle of the country, and the largest warm-weather population center between the coasts is a natural fit.

This is almost certainly bogus, but I kinda wish it weren't. When SeaWorld decided where to build parks, they went with Orlando, San Diego, and...San Antonio. What do they know that Disney doesn't?
Sea World also went to Ohio...but later closed that location.

"During his appearance before the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations on Tuesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed that Apple’s “Made-in-USA” Macs will be manufactured in Texas. The Cupertino company announced its plans to produce one of its Mac lines on U.S. soil last December, but until now, it was unclear where the process would take place."

Wouldn't it have made more sense to have built their new American Apple grove/plant in Washington state?! Just sayin'. ;)
Ahh yes, the iGrove. :p

Are Americans getting that lazy that a park on each coast isn't enough? ;)

And Texas? With its penchant for brutal heat, wildfires and tornadoes? Pass.

Texas is in the middle!

You are right the heat can be brutal. Although, our winters are mild so Winter break vacations would be pleasant. As for tornadoes when is the last time you heard about a tornado dismembering Houston? There really are no tornadoes in the area in question and the wild fires? There has only been one wildfire in this area, we have not seen a drought like this in close to 100 years.

The area in question is a rural area and was damaged by the 2011 tri-county wildfires, the property is owned by Rice University, due to the fires the whole 6400 acres has been bulldozed and cleared, it is a prime location for some type of development. If you look on the map half of the property is in Waller Co the other half is in Montgomery Co. It's about 9 miles west of the back side of The Woodlands. What I do know is Waller Co. will do anything for growth, what ever they can get to line their pockets.

I am by far not saying this rumor is true but there have been some strange activity, on said property. Our neighbor is a commercial real estate broker, and she claims it's true and in the works. But I will believe it when I see it. We also spoke with the contractor who is working on the section of property that lines the south side of 1488. They were hired to build fences that are starting to look more like Jurassic park fences which he said will house a hundred head of Longhorn cattle. They are also building some sort of well and water holding tanks on that tract.

I personally hope it is all FALSE! My home is less then a block from the proposed area and I have no desire to deal with traffic, and I'm not willing to move! We already have to deal with Renaissance Festival Traffic two months out of the year and that's a nightmare.

I vote anywhere but in my quiet little back yard!

First of all SHAME ON whoever is writing these articals if they are false.
Second ( I will admit I only read the first page and a half of comments so i appologize if this was already said)
Anyone remember when Disney was going to build in Virgina? This was all exciting news ( until it wasn't)
http://virginiavirtucon.wordpress.com/2008/07/17/revive-disneys-america-in-virginia/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney's_America

And also the Disney Marine World they were going to build in CA and the whole Port thing. But i suppose that turned out ok because they did build CA Adventure.

I think as Disney fans we are such a vulnerable population. We will do anything/ travel antwhere to get a piece of the Magic and boy don't we get excited when we think that magic is coming closer to where we live. I know I would have loved a Disney themed park in VA. How disappointing that the concept never came to be. So there will always be those "thoughts" that people want to make public about Disney, but will never be.

Again, Shame on them. Don't get our hopes up unless there is "Substantial" evidence.

I've been hearin' this rumor since at least '78. There is a subdivision just north of the neighborhood I have lived in as a teen, and as an adult for over 36 years hear in Austin, Texas (we are native Texans, but lived in a coupla' other places between our Heaven state ;)) that was rumored then to have been the new sight of a centrally located Disney Park.
That said, I call BS, too. It would actually be a good fit. Central Texas doesn't have nearly the humidity as does South Texas, or Florida, and ,statistically less tornadoes...hurricanes are dead by the time they get this far into the state. It would actually be an awesome fit.
But, ultimately, I think Disney has the west and east coasts wired for now, and that is enough for them.

And, I still find it funny how many of you verbally jack with Texas, but yet how many of you still keep movin' down here. I can't even count the number of you tundra people that have moved down here and can't "believe" how beautiful Central Texas is. Make up your minds already.

Cheers. We ain't all perfect 'round our wonderful country, and we all have our own attitudes 'cause the whole place is just so vast. But, I think when it comes right down to it, ultimately, we're all pretty much on the same page. ;)

Clever.

But energy prices are cheaper in Texas, and getting cheaper for the next several decades with all the natural gas oozing out of every nook and cranny in that state now. Cheap energy equals cheap manufacturing; in the electronics industry, the cost of energy is over 25% of the manufacturing costs.

Why not build a theme park in the future US state of Puerto Rico? It would be the first bilingual park in the US in Disney history!

EDIT: Pirates of the Caribbean would take on a whole new meaning... So would the Tiki Birds!

EDIT 2: or a DL in Israel. Instead of Hall of Presidents. Hall of Rabbis.

EDIT 3: Hall of Meshcuganas... It's a comedy

Yes, we currently have two family farms oozing.
Not to mention that we're the largest (and getting larger) producer of wind energy (both kinds ;)) in the country.
