- It was all written from the ground up in C++
- My graphics API of choice is OpenGL
- I will probably be using FMOD for my audio needs. I may use OpenAL or BASS as I progress
- The data is stored in simple XML files

The goal is for my system to be expandable and customizable. For example, you should only download the components that you want to. If you don't care about any of the hotels, you don't need to download them.

Ideally, I also want to have the program be able to switch times. For example, you could set the year to 1985, and walk around the old Tomorrowland, or check out World of Motion.

Can't really see much in that screen, digitaldisney.

As the builder of a Disney park in RCT2, I can tell you from experience that making a park look "Disney" in RCT2 is more difficult than most people would think. With the original RCT2 and it's expansion packs, it's nearly impossible to create a descent Disney park because of the lack of the smallest things such as an American flag here or roof eaves there. Custom scenery is a must.

The sheer amount of detail to make a park Disney in RCT2 is almost ridiculous. I've been working on Main Street, U.S.A. for over a month, and I only have Town Square and the first store done. The structures on Town Square aren't even 100% complete.

So if you want to create a full blown Disney park, go RCT2. But you better be ready to set aside a decent amount of time to work on it.

Sim Coaster and Sim Theme Park are both great games! they're so incredibly addictive! they may not have the best graphics, but they're fun! of course, you can't really make your own Disney World or anything like that. but the only problem i've ever had out of either game is that they seem to have a few bugs...i don't know if it's the actual games or just my stupid computer, but both games worked for several months (i owned Sim Coaster several months before i got Sim Theme Park, so SC worked longer) and then all of a sudden both stopped working. i couldn't get either one to start up on my computer. i tried deleting them off my computer and re-installing them, but that didn't work. i tried a few other things too, but nothing worked. so i just gave up. so, that's really the only drawback, but like i said, it could just be my computer...it tends to have a mind of its own sometimes.

Any chance to get some screens? As someone who has given up out of frustration, I'd love to see how your park is coming.

That's because
A) It's nighttime
B) There's not much there. I have added more scenery to the project since that screenshot was taken (seven seas lagoon, islands, cindy's castle, beaches, walkways), but there's still not much there

Istopped at that phase, because I didn't want to add too many things to the project before considering how I was going to package, render, store, and deliver it all.

Here is the link to the screens. I have a topic in the Video Games section... lol

Quite impressive! :sohappy: You must be making some of your own parts for the buildings, cause some of that doesn't look like standard RCT landscaping or building sprites.

Sounds like a very ambitious project. Since you seem to have done a lot of work on the resorts, may you could (for now) just create a simulated ride on the monorail. That would make one heck of a screensaver!

So Digital Disney, is the project dead? Please say it isn't.
No, it's not dead. Granted, I'm not working on it as much as I have before. Right now, I'm brainstorming, and thinking about how I am going to organize this effort. I am also collecting pictures that I will use for reference and textures for my models. Rest assured, when I get past this stage, I will be going full-force.

I have considered that. The monorail part is still pretty ambitious. However, I have considered modelling a small area and using that as a screensaver. Say, if I provide the Imagination pavilion, and you point the screensaver to a certain BGM loop you may have downloaded, you could use them together as one heck of a screensaver.

RCT2

Now that you guys have been talking about this.

Im going to spend several months to attempt to develop the MK.

My question:

isnt there a way to put your own music into the game? So if I were to download a Disney song aka: Space mountain music, coudlnt I put it in the game? Or not?

My RCT2 MK

I'm currently in the process building MK for rct2. It's definetly gonna take a long ______ time. I've had to experiment to see what works and what looks good and waht doesn't and try to make it as accurate as possible. I'll post some pics soon. Also working on epcot, have anice start on WOM and the geosphere. If anyone is working on the other WDW parks or DL parks it'd be nice to trade parks when we're done. And does anyone know where I can get ride layouts?

Yes, and there's another thread on this. The data files must be exactly the same KB size as the originals. I've now replaced several of the carousel tunes with the ones from Cindy's Carousel. I'd be glad to share, but they're enormous WAV files I can't e-mail. If anyone has some FTP space I'll upload them.
