Hi All,

I have the oportunity to go to Paris for free. My other half is being sent there to do some work with his company. I have decided that while over there, we are going to go to Disney Paris. Has anyone been there? What is it like? i am very excited about seeing it. I have been to Disney once this past December and i cant wait to go back but i am excited about seeing Disney in Paris.

Thanks for any info any of you may have.

hi i went with my other half in november.
Its a beautiful park, very clean , detail everywhere, all very new looking.but it will be cold!! i think its still winterwonderland celebrations there at the moment.the castle is beautiful, dont forget you can go upsatirs in to slepping beautys gallery and walk around the outside of the castle, and you can go underneath to see the sleeping dragon! veryscary as its pitch black! i didnt go to the studios park as only there for two days and wanted to do all in the disneyland park.the rides are all very new and clean, well laid out.the cms arent so 'disneyed' as they are in the us, and there are very slow at doing anything like serving! and making coffee!
but have agreat time its a beautiful park

Just like all the other Disney parks, it definately has its own feel, but it is still distinctly Disney, you will enjoy! I was there in 2003 and had an absolute blast! Look for the Pirates singing in French!

Do a lot of the people there speak english? I think i may need more than 2 days to go there. :>) i told my other half that if her has to work on the weekends too then i am still going to the parks. I will have my own car and just go alone. I dont particulary care as long as im in Disney.

i can't believe you get to walk on the outside of the castle like that, it is so cool. i have a ton of research to do so i dont miss anything. i dont know when or if this opotunity wil ever come up again.

Oh and as for the cold, I live in New England. We are used to the cold. sono worries about that. :>)

walking round the turrets of the castle was a wondeful experience looking over fantasy land from outside. oh and ride the pirates ride and book a meal at the Blue Lagoon restaurant! its fab the restaurant is inside the ride, all warm with sight and sound of a warm caribbean night.plus the foods great too!

Don't worry about speaking French. We were there in September and almost everyone stopped me trying to speak French and asked if I'd rather speak in English.

Disneyland Paris and the city of Paris are AMAZING!

Do everything you get the chance to do. Go up the Eiffel Tower at Night! The view of Paris is great during the day, but breathtaking at night.

We can't wait to go back!

Disneyland Paris Resort is not to be missed - the parks are wonderful and finely detailed, everything feels more "permanent" (as it should, since they spent more money on this park than any other). Read through this forum on DLP and you will even find a thread on English and French language. In general, you don't need a word of French at DLP - everything is done in multiple languages - you will always hear the English version as you go through rides - they use simultanous sound casts in French and English, and at times even Spanish, German, and Italian. All of the attractions with storylines have one gizmo or another that allows you to choose the language. Your "ear" will hear the English in rides like Pirates, Phantom manor, etc.

I go to Paris twice a year, and each time, I always go over to DLP for a day. It is my favorite of all the parks.

mkylovr, I will also be there within the next month. I have been there once before and it is a truely beautiful park. The castle is by far one of the best, the details inside are down right spectacular. You can't miss space mountain either, it is amazing. Hopefully, the weather won't be to bad while I'm there.

And dont miss Phantom Manor, Big Thundermountain, PotC or IASW either. All make the American versions pale in comparisson.

I realize you mentioned you're from New England - but it can be BITTER cold in the park if you go in the winter. I was in Paris for New Years a few years back and (while I'm used to extremely windy, cold winters being from Chicago) it was honestly near unbearable. If you go when it's warmer however I'm sure you'll love it. Definitely do Space Mountain - it's completely a different ride - and don't miss the dragon in the Castle basement!

I have to say... while I am just as big of a Disney fan as most of the people on this board... Disneyland Paris would not be on my list of top ten things to do while in Paris. There is SO much to see and do there - I'd hate for you to miss the TRUE Paris. BE SURE to visit the museums (I could spend four whole days in the Louvre alone!) and Versialles and trying all the amazing food. I'm proud to say that I've been to Disneyland Paris, but it definitely is no comparision to the rest of Paris.

I hope you have a wonderful trip!

I totally agree!

Disneyland Paris is well worth visiting but in my opinion is not a patch on WDW or Disneyland, CA - Disneyland park is great but the studios seemed to miss to me - very little Disney magic if you know what I mean.

I don't think you can compare the atmosphere at DLP to any of the US parks...they are definately "amusement parks" in Europe, a far cry from Disney world and the magic in Orlando in particular...the studios are universally agreed-upon as lacking - that's why they are busy building three brand new major attractions there (I am still not sure why they haven't just combined the two parks into one admission yet, but Disney must still be making enough money off of both, even after the introduction of the passe partout (park hopper) which lets you do everything in both parks of note in one day anyway.) I think people in general here were commenting not on the atmosphere in the Paris parks, but the quality of the attractions. There is absolutely no comparison to the superior quality of Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Phantom Manor, Pirates of the Carribean, and the Castle at Disneyland Paris. Personally, I haven't felt the "disney magic" anywhere outside of WDW in Orlando - even Disneyland California doesn't have that same feeling anymore.

Fair enough - I agree the quality of some of the rides is superior to the US parks (POTC and Phantom Manor definately - can't really compare Space Mountain as they are completely different). I didn't get to ride RnRC at Paris (I was 4mths pregnant) but my husband claims it wasn't as good as MGM - the theming was different.

i get that there is more to see in Paris than just Disney, but for me i have no business going to the Louvre. maybe ill take a pic of the building for my family to see but i am not into art and sculptures and stuff. i like modern contemporrary stuff. For me Disney is it. I will go see the tower and do the whole tourist thing while my other half is working (the point for the free ride there), but i plan to spend as much time in Disney as possible. i am 27 and just went to the one in Florida for the first time this past december and want to go back in a big way. the place could be a dump but as long as i get to see my man Mickey Mouse i will be happy. I have an obesession for that mouse. i got the apprentice Mickey tattooed on my leg 10 years ago. no regrets on the ink either. :) thank you all for your thoughts on this. i am very excited to go there and i hope to remember to post pics. im sure ill take a ton of them. i took over 1300 pics from my trip in DEC. my scrapbook will take 4 or 5 albums. i didnt even print all my pics.

I have to agree with everyone else. If you don't go to the Louvre you are truely missing out on some amazing works of art. There is also Centre Georges Pompidou which is for Modern art. I mean, come on, you can't miss the opportunity to see the Mona Lisa. Check out Versailles, you have never seen such opulence. Even go to Mont Saint Micheal to see the original inspiration for the Paris castle.

I'm just saying, spend one day at Disney, but be excited to see the other stuff. I know i am.
