Disney On Ice

I've been to one fairly recently... it had Cars, Lion King, and Little Mermaid, plus Tinkerbell as the whole second half.

If you ask me, it kinda felt like "Bargain Basement Disney"... everything felt a little... "off"... I dunno... maybe it's because I'm so used to the real thing? But both me and the friend I went with walked away from it with a bit of a sour feeling in our stomachs.

I took my daughter to see "Princesses on Ice" She got more of a thrill out of Mickey and Minne then she did out of the Princesses.

You can't really go to these things and expect anything more than short, abbreviated storylines with people skating on ice. It is truly meant for children who don't know the difference between Broadway and your local Dinner Theater. To go expecting the type of shows they have at WDW will only make your experience bad.

The "magic" I had was seeing my daughters face light up when she saw Mickey and asked if she could go give him a hug. It wasn't from the show, but from her. If you go in with that attitude, your show will be filled with magic and pixie dust.

I've see three different Disney on Ice shows in the past three months. I enjoyed them all.

In November, Disneyland Adventure. The Parr family (The Incredibles) visit disneyland. They plot was a little silly (a robot version of syndrome kidnaps micky) but i still enjoyed seeing them visit the attractions in the park.

In December, World of Fantasy. The first half was Cars, The Little Mermaid and the Lion King. The Cars were neat, since they were real cars driving on the ice (no real plot though). The other two were very abridged versions of the movies plot. The entire second half was an on ice version of the Tinkerbell film. That part was really great.

Just yesterday i saw Mickey and Minnie's Amazing Journey. The first half was The Lion King, The Little Mermaid and Lilo & Stitch. The second half was Peter Pan (which i was really looking forward too) TLM & TLK sections were slightly different in this show than Worlds of Fantasy. Lion king was better in WOF but little mermaid was good in this show. Sitch's costume was kind of funny looking (my favorite part of that section was david skating around with out a shirt :o) The Peter Pan half was really good too. the story was a neat combination of the disney film and the stage version. very cool to see peter, wendy, michael, john and tikerbell fly over the ice. I also got a peter pan plush (something they don't have at WDW)

It's been forever since I've been to one of these. I really enjoyed them as a kid. My grandmother sent us tickets to go and see it at HSBC Arena this month. The show that we're going to see is the "100 Years of Magic" show, which I guess has a little bit of everything. It should be fun.

My favorite one from when I was a kid, though, was the year they did "Tron on Ice." :D

That's what I was worried about. Oh well. I'll be optomistic.

I deduced where you're from that you'll be seeing the "Disneyland Adventure" one which I saw in Montreal, Canada last fall. The plot gets a little absurd (especially in the 2nd half) but it's about The Incredibles touring Disneyland.
They do scenes from Main St and major rides like POTC, BTMRR and IASW. The HM sequence is one of the best ice show scenes I've ever seen!

No, it's not REAL Disney - but I think it's very well done. I'm sure you'll have fun!
