Did the show ever place on the ratings charts? I can’t say I ever recall seeing it. I’d be curious how it performed but we probably wouldn’t be able to have any idea.

I don’t necessarily think the success or lack thereof of this series impacts making another movie. They are not really closely related.

Of course, there will be a new movie. However, it will still be tainted by the thinking that lead to this series and will suck.

I agree. I'd say the main reason the show wasn't really successful is how disconnected from the films it was. People like myself were looking for a proper continuation of the series. Not an off shoot series with little ties to the films. So as long as Cage stays on board, I don't think this show will effect it.

Exactly. This show felt more like an off brand imitation than a real continuation of the IP. And Cage is really the glue of the movies and so much of the "fun" revolves on him just hamming it up. Even as someone who was disappointed in this series, it doesn't diminish my potential interest and enthusiasm for a third film.

I never saw the series because, to me, a big part of the appeal of the National Treasure series is the dynamic between Nicholas Cage, Diane Kruger and Justin Bartha. Without that trio it might as well be a different franchise.
If they get the original cast back I think a National Treasure 3 would do well.

What I remain curious about is if the new movie will continue to have the pro-patriotism and pro-American history vibe of the previous 2 movies.
I think they're going with the plot-point that Moses wrote the Bill of Rights.
