disney no longer takeing checks?

I just got back from the world. my cousin is leaving in a few weeks and asked : does disney world still take checks. when we went to the world of disney store, we wanted to use a check. they said they no longer accepted them even if you stayed on property at a disney owned hotel.we had to use our key to the world card to charge it. why is this, or was it a mistake? my fam. always usedc checks ( and cash for venders, exc. and key to the world whenmy parents didnt feel like brining the check book or we saw something and we charged it) thanks in advanced, my cousin prefers checks because she thinks its easier to keep track of purchases

Many retailers take checks and just have it set up through a company so the check is filed as an e-check so it is the same as if you are using your debit card. The money is taken out of your account just as quickly and if the money is not there the e-check is declined. It would be a great service to offer since it probably wouldn't cost them any more than what they already pay in credit card fees.

Checks are going the way of carbon paper, overhead projectors,carousel slide projectors and rotary dial phones.

Many stores , such as Old Navy, and others, have implemented the newer check srystems where your check is scanned, and the money is witdrawn nearly immediatly from your checking account much the way a debit card is used. Most places your checks are sent, use a similr system to electronically process your check payments. (Mortgage payments, etc.) After your check is scanned through, it is given right back to you. I dont think I have used paper checks in a store for well over ten years. I only have a few checks for limited bill paying, and the occasional last minute gift inside a card. I just dont think Disney leave someone high and dry if thier only form of payment was a check.

Tell her to use a debit card. It's the same as a check but quicker, easier and overall better. It will need a Mastercard/Visa logo so she can use it as a credit card, but the money will still come right out of her checking account immediately.
