Well, change is inevitable, and the way MGM was going, this new identity could be the park's saviour.

Archway, I salute you. :)

Ahh it is an end of an era, now will this be up on eBay in 5 years time or do you think they will keep it in storage for memorabilia?:D

I hope this will bring something more exciting to the Studios. I have always favored the Studios over Animal Kingdom, but with the way Animal Kingdom is changing for the better...and Studios for the worse...

Let's hope Toy Story Mania isnt a cheap dark ride with screens and maybe more like Spiderman.

um, yes...it will...

meanwhile... has anyone else noticed that on the Disneyworld.com website, it is no longer called MGM? when did they change that? when the new site layout rolled out?

Yeah when the new website was unveiled the name was already changed. I think there are big things in store for the DHS! :sohappy:

Purely a blue sky kind of thought...but if I were to design a "studio tour" the Disney way. The trams would take you through a backlot with recreations of Disney films, maybe visit Harrington town set from Pollyanna, the Lighthouse set from Pete's Dragon, go through a soundstage where a recreation of the rooftop scene from Mary Poppins is about to be "filmed" with dancers and live actors for that moment. I mean Disney has such a vast film library that can be tapped for wonderful "studio" attractions without even resorting to using other studio material...

Just a thought.

Thanks for the picture. Because of the change this year when we went a couple of weeks back we made sure we took picture's of the kids in front of that arch so they could have it with the old name.

I totally love this idea of a "fantasy" backlot tour!!!

Hmm, really odd to see the archway blank like that now. Here's hoping it's a sign of new, bigger things to come for the Studios.

I'm not holding my breath. I'm sure it will be fine and all and much better than Millionaire but I can't see it being even in the same league as Spiderman. But you never know.
