Disney MaxPass reviews

AP's became unblocked again today (Sunday). Despite the sudden 20 degree jump in temps, the parks are packed according to the App. Wait times of 60 to 180 minutes in both parks, with the longest waits in DCA by far. Fastpasses are all long gone for Guardians and Racers, but are still available for everything in Disneyland.

At 4pm...
180 minutes - Guardians of the Galaxy
120 minutes - Radiator Springs Racers
90 minutes - Grizzly River Run & Splash Mountain
70 minutes - Matterhorn
60 minutes - Midway Mania & Soarin'
30 minutes - Luigi's Rockin' Roadsters & Haunted Mansion

I imagine the new Fastpass system is getting a real workout today.

I can't wait to upgrade to Signature in October. I've called about upgrading my current pass but they don't pro rate ( understandably as it would be impossible to calculate) so I'm just going to wait it out.

My review of Maxpass (or Fastpass or Fastpass+ or whatever):

EDIT: This image shows my AP ID...I don't think anyone would actually do anything with that, but just to be safe.

And there's plenty more where that came from. As you can see, this system seems to be tailored specifically for me. You all knew I'd be the first to test this. You get immediate or near-immediate return times for Mansion allowing you to come back out and Fastpass and do it over and over again. Just as I would if the lines weren't so long this year. What this means in the long run, I don't know. I'll leave that to the Micechat editorials.

I think that is a thread win.

Totally, but I removed the image of a series of Haunted Mansion back-to-back Fastpasses as I realized the Fastpasses show my AP ID number. It's not that I don't trust people here, but I don't want that out in the open.

We came in from out of town yesterday and got to the parks around 2. The APs being unblocked makes so much sense, haha.

At 2:30, Mission Breakout was at 105 minutes so we decided to skip it and try later, so we rode RSR single rider (10 minutes), Rollicking Roadsters (10 minutes) and California Screamin (15 minutes). We didn't ride much else, lol. Toy Story stayed at a solid 80 minutes throughout the evening, Little Mermaid was always at 25, Grizzly River Run hovered between an hour and 90 minutes and Soarin' stayed at 60. Thank god for single rider on RSR or we wouldn't have been able to get on it twice (the second time was 30 minutes).

Plus, as you mentioned, it was HOT! I didn't check the temperature, but it's taking some adjusting as we're from New England.

At around 7, MB was at 2 hours and we decided to just wait it out. Boy, I'm glad we did because the attraction was awesome and we really only waited for 90 or so minutes. By then, it had cooled off so it was actually pretty enjoyable.

So, after 10 pages I'm still not sure what the Maxpass is exactly. Is it just the ability to book Fastpasses with your phone?

I have to question this. These are too close to the ground to be Wi-Fi antennas, especially for a large public place like DLR. Too much congestion that close to the ground wouldn't blanket the area with coverage. I'd expect the DLR ones to be up in a tree or on top of a building somewhere.

Those are designed to let out the Disneyland magical-happy gas.

Add FastPass to more rides; adding incentive to purchase MaxPass.
Remove FastPass minimum 40 minute wait time to add more inventory; adding further incentive.
Increase MaxPass price over time until market won't bare no further.

Sounds about right and exactly what I had been thinking.

I really hate fastpass and the affect it has on stand-by line times, crowding, etc.

Don't forget about the step where they remove stand-by lines completely. They could said it is because of too much crowding. (a condition they artificially created with fastpass in the first place).

No exaggerations. On Saturday we were able to take advantage of the early fastpass return times and rode GotG, RSR, Screamin, Toy Story, Goofy, Mermaid, Soarin, and Monsters and were walking over to Disneyland at 11. This wasn't done in a commando style either but at a leisurely stroll. We could have ridden GRR too but it was too cold that morning. Granted, the park was pretty dead, but we also were able to ride everything in DL, only chosing not to ride Pan, Toad, Alice and Nemo knowing there would be little wait for these the next morning. (We don't ride any of the spinners or carny style rides). That was with a midday break at the hotel and leaving before midnight. The next day was all for soaking it in and re-rides. GRR was the go-to ride on Sunday. It got a little toasty that day. The system worked for us. I would also gladly pay $12 when the fastpass app goes live. Not over $20 though. It would be worth it to me not to have to run back and forth as much.

I think individuals and families on vacation will gladly take advantage of this. However, me and a family of 4 would find it a bit challenging to pay an upcharge every visits...maybe the occasional visit but $40 extra each visit would be cost prohibitive.
