Accelerating from the previous plan.

they didn’t really have one...it was the “for the Health and safety of our cast and guests”

they never commit if they don’t have to...never.

I think we all assumed the whole year...they probably did too. But the administration made the calculation to end it somewhat abruptly/early. Disney undoubtedly wanted to be the last...they are.

good for them.

*assuming all mask restrictions are lifted within the week*

Personally, I would have liked to see masks while on attractions last a little longer. We had to deal with plexiglass obstructing views for a year, but now we’re supposed to just move to sitting shoulder to shoulder next to a stranger on indoor attractions with no masks, basically overnight?

I don’t know, I’ve tried to “trust the shot” more lately, but it still feels like a lot very quick.

Remember that they don’t have the ride capacity to handle their Normal crowd levels...so here’s where the rubber meets the road.

There is nothing to suggest those who’ve had Covid are more likely to get the shot. So we can take the percentage vaccinated (51%) and assume about 35% of the remaining 49% have had Covid. That adds a further 17.15%. So 68%. Falling case numbers support that estimate being pretty accurate.

It'd be great if people could just get vaccinated so we don't have to factor in estimates and assumptions.

The higher the official numbers are, the more comfortable people will be with shifting to personal responsibility. Hit those high numbers and more people will lean towards not worrying about people putting themselves at risk. Right now the vaccination numbers are still low enough that many people are still more comfortable with broad, general restrictions.

I think it's pretty clear at this point that once Demings lifts the Orange County mask mandate, Disney will lift theirs too. My question... will they do it on the same day (Friday)? Wait until the end of the weekend? Some other timeframe? What do you think?

I wonder how long until cast members wearing masks will be optional? I’ve noticed places like Target and Publix have started to allow their employees to not wear masks. And obviously a lot of smaller shops have allowed it as well.
There is a good article about it here :hilarious:

I'd still be surprised if it is that rapid considering how cautious Disney has been on all of this. And part of it will likely be the agreements with the unions.

I mean if the CDCis still recommending that unvaccinated people wear masks indoors and a huge number of Disney guests are under 12 years old, it's a tough situation for them to thread the needle of what is appropriate no matter what the state or county is doing.

The unions have said their piece and today it was announced some cast members didn't have to wear masks. Agreements have been made.
