Disney Management: NO Courage!

Apparently, "Rapunzel Unbraided" is one of Disney's future animated films. Er... 3-D animated films in development.

A sweet story?!

Songs and romance?!

Good versus evil?!

Prince and princesses?!?!

There's a catch.

According to sources, namely SaveDisney.com, whose founder used to be President of Walt Disney Feature Animation, say that RAPUNZEL UNBRAIDED will be a "Shrek-like spoof."

Where's the heart nowadays?

The most recent Disney movie (Home on the Range) uses excess burping and innuendos to try to get adults to appreciate the film. Other Feature Animated Films, i.e. The Emporer's New Groove, have no "heart" to them. The only recent films that express this "trust" are "Lilo and Stitch" and "Brother Bear," both made by the FIRED Florida Animators.

And now, when Disney has the chance to redeem itself, it's losing all courage and relying on burping, quick humor, and the formula for failure. Entertainment? Sure. But long-term disaster - disaster which killed 2-D animation, and which may kill Disney's 3-D animation. And then where are we left with?!

The fact of the matter is, Disney is losing every golden opportunity. "Rapunzel" could be Disney's next "Snow White" or "Beauty and the Beast." CLASSIC song with heart - without the burping, humor, stealing from its own competitors - could redeem the Disney name.

Even the title, "Rapunzel Unbraided," does not seem worthy of a "Disney" name. It sounds like a spoof.

Enough, Disney. If management is too scared to put the Disney formula into its own work, then hasta la vista.

And if 45% NO CONFIDENCE won't spur you, what will?!

Pixar, on the other hand, is FULLY successful with original, non-spoof, heart-felt stories. There is no need for this "Shrek," "Unbraided" comedy routine. Just pure magic.

Wonder if Pixar knows the secret and Disney's lost itself. Long-term planning is shot - as this film is one set for several years from now.

A lost opportunity.

Pity, eh?

Your thoughts?

I know that there is a common belief, whether true or not, that the some of the attractions built in the past twenty years have been in REACTION to other rides or themed lands at competing parks. For instance DAK was built to compete with Sea World and Busch Gardens.

Now it appears, and I do emphasize appears, that Disney is doing the whole "me too" syndrome with its animated films. I have a beef that they're straying away from 2d animation. I don't have a beef with them trying to dabble in 3d animation. However, I would like to see them use this new medium to carry on the traditional storylines, musical numbers, and unforgettable characters to another level. Not just to copy others. They should lead and not follow.

I agree, Grizz. Have they forgotten how good Beauty and the Beast was. I don't like "If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em" People should be joining DISNEY, not vice versa! They're becoming followers.

(did I totally just repeat what you just said, only less eloquently?)

I don't think Rapunzel will be a rip off of "Shrek"...

yes, Eddie Murphy is on tap to do a cover of an old Monkee's tune while voicing a barnyard animal, but the song is "Daydream Believer" and Eddie will play a talking Ox named Ox.

See? Differences abound.
