Disgusting. That poor girl deserves justice but the delayed response of Disney employees has denied her that. The least Disney could do would be to offer the family a refund, as I'm sure they didn't enjoy the cruise very much after that.

This is horrible. I've never been on a cruise but was thinking about it, as it seemed to be one of the few places you could let a tween go off on their own safely. This shatters that notion.

Must edit to add... I just realized that the grandmother was THERE. Shame on her for belittling this.

Eegads. We were on the Dream on its third cruise, and our server was
from India. He was awesome, sure hope it wasn't him. Disney really
botched this investigation.

I'm not defending the grandmother. But since they're from Brazil, I can imagine a scenario where dealing with the US legal system would seem overwhelming, especially if you're educated about it on a cruise (by cruise employees?)

But it doesn't matter whether the family wanted to participate in the prosecution. A crime against a child occurred in Florida (not international waters). Police do not need the family's approval to make an arrest. Unfortunately, it sounds like police weren't even made aware of it until it was too late.

I don't know, I think I sense some media manipulation on this one. Although possible, I highly doubt they would have been aware of the molestation and let it slide for a day. I think the key sentence in that video was "Disney were only aware a girl was made to feel uncomfortable".

Im surprised DCL paid for his transport home - after what must br gross misconduct. I ended my employment 3 months early, leaving on good terms and had to pay me transport costs!!

The grandmother not wanting this to be investigated further is a total flipping idiot! She needs to be smacked to knock some sense into her head! That poor child has to live with that assault for the rest of her life and her grandmother is like "oh well lets sweep it under the rug and forget about it". Granny needs some psychiatric help!

So let's get this straight it was essentially 4 hours between incident and containment. This is a horrible situation, but it certainly looks like it was handled with an aggressive sense of urgency. The Disney PR folks have done themselves a disservice by not having all of the facts before they issued statements, it makes it look like there was a coverup.
