Disney Inn? Anyone know what I am talking about?

Ok, see if anyone knows what I am talking about.

When I was like 6 years old, (about 15 years ago) My family went to Disney. We had stayed at the Buena Vista Howard Johnson. This was our second trip to the World. My mom promised us that on our next trip, we would stay at the "pyramid hotel" (the contemporary). Well upon our return home, my parents immediately called the world, and made reservations. However, some how we got confused, and thought the Contemporary was called THE DISNEY INN. We made the reservations, and to our dissapoinment, upon arrival, we were directed to another hotel, not the contemporary, but to a Small hotel (about 2 stories, called THE DISNEY INN., (On disney property) From what I remember, it was on the GOLF COURSE, the outside was brown wood, like the polynesian, but one story. Anyone know what hotel this is today?

This has bothered me for years. I know I am not imagining things, because My entire family remembers.:hammer:

The place you are in question about is now called Shades of Green. Originally it was the Golf Resort. Then became the Disney Inn. the rooms were supposedly the largest on Disney property. I stayed there in June of 1993. The rooms were nice and the staff what you would expect of Disney. Soon after I went, the military leased the property from Disney for 99 years. Military personnel get to stay there at prices structured on rank. I think this is a great treat for military personnel.

The Disney Inn is now called Shades of Green. Disney leased the resort to the military. So Shades of Green now serves as a resort for active military personal. Shades of Green is currently closed for rehab and will reopen next year.

A few years after the lease went in to effect at the end of 93 The military purchased the property outright from Disney and have been in the planning of the expansion ever since.

No you aren't imagining things. The Disney Inn was real, it is now Shades of Green. Wow that must have been a major dissappointment to get there and realize you'd mixed up the name of the resort and weren't staying at the "pyramid" Contemporary!
