Everyone got worked up about the environment for a few years and then it went back to normal.
If this was a real change, supported globally by multiple governments, I would be less skeptical. Right now, all I see are a ton of corporations cashing in on the public's willingness to buy anything that is "environmentally friendly".

You make a good point. I just hate the guilty feeling I get when grilling my gazelle meat over my burning tires...The problem with the 1990s environmentalism is that it was also associated with the crackpot New Age movement. Few people took it seriously. Now much of the earth stewardship information is rooted in science* and seems less far-fetched.
*With the exception of global warming, which is a real consideration but has been exaggerated on both sides of the fence.
