What do you suppose Disney will be like in 10, 30, 50 years? More parks, restaurants, attractions, and resorts? Or will it go bankrupt and collapse?

If it goes bankrupt and crashes I will cry the rest of my life and never leave my house. Yes it would be that bad. I think there will probably be parks built in other countries and definitely some landmark expansions.

It is a business....like all businesses it needs to keep prior visitors coming back and new visitors coming in....ifit is not growing, it is dying....I think we will see the parks grow,,,,I think we will see more countries in EPCOT....more rollercoaster mountains and some ride that takes us under the sea.

I think its not possible to predict something 50 years from now correctly. The fact is Disney is going to have a new CEO in 2016 and that means there may or not be some changes in terms of the management of the parks and resorts.

The New CEO of the Disney company has stuff to answer to such as Disneyland Paris, the future of Shanghai Disneyland after the opening of it. It is a guarantee that Shanghai Disneyland is going to have park expansions through 2023 to 2018 time period with a 2nd park could happen by 2028.

Disneyland in 2023 or 2028 is a good question since there has to be changes more additions to DCA and to Disneyland. Another gate for Disneyland is tough to do unless there is a land property available that Disney could be.

In a ten to 15 years time for WDW, there could be a couple more DVC's built. WDW isn't going to have more theme parks because it would cannibalize itself. With Disney Springs supposed to be done by the end of the decade, Disney has to look at more at the parks themselves for WDW.

There could be changes in DHS, AK, Epcot and Magic Kingdom by 10 to 15 years depending on who is the new CEO of Disney. While George is in charge of WDW now, he's only there for the short term. Epcot is going to be changed to a point since Universe of Energy, and imagination will need to have changes.

MK by 2028 will have Tomorrowland changed. DHS is going to have Star Wars by 2028, but there could be things address like the Backlot Tour and a new night show. AK could be have more changes in its park due to the amount of land it has or could even change the Chester and Hester part of DHS.

Well, I actually don't know about that. If we're lucky, in 50 years they might announce that the concept art is coming.
I think remarks like that has to wait since Bob Iger is planning to step down in 2016.

Avatar is Bob's baby and I am sure construction is going to start before he goes and that means the future CEO can't do nothing to stop Avatarland as a result unless it is for the attractions themselves. Construction for Avatar to me appears to start in 2014 since Festival of the Lion King construction is going to be completed.

If constructions starts for a Star Wars Expansion a new CEO before Bob leaves, it would be tough for the next CEO to cancel it if stuff is already starting to get built by 2016.

The fact is when a new CEO takes over a company, it can change the direction of the company, but a new CEO can't really stop construction of something that is middle of something.

Those are extreme options, and it will surely be something much closer to the middle of that road- meaning park additions will be thin on the ground (at WDW anyway) but they will continue to make money hand over fist. That's how it's been going for years, and is unlikely to change.

It won't happen in our lifetime. You can see that the numbers for the parks are not going down at all. Not even after the recession in 2008 did the numbers did. People flock to Disney parks in good times and in bad times. The company is 90 years old now, and they have more money than they ever have. So I wouldn't worry about them going bankrupt at all. Too many shareholders that have a say in things.

I think in 15 years we'll see a 5th gate at WDW. Plenty of space for that for sure. But I'd rather see them brush up the current parks and make them as spectacular as they possibly can be.

Disneyland won't have a 3rd gate. But I have the feeling that they'll have figured out a way to prevent the logjams at the entrance of the parking lots. Maybe add another entrance perhaps?

My friend and I were once joking around and she said that when the world ended, all that would be left would be cockroaches and Disney. :D
(I'm sorry, I hope that joke wasn't too rude!)
I honestly think that the resort brand will expand. The vacation club especially.
I hope they don't touch A Bug's Land at DL, because I love it for sentimental reasons and all the little ones in family enjoy it.
Maybe a whole new theme park in the next 20 years? I sure hope so!:)

Businesses evolve with society. Social evolution is very difficult to predict, and as a result the evolution of WDW is difficult to predict.
