Alright everyone!! What is Disney like in the first week of May??? I have never been in late spring so want to get an idea of crowds and temps.

We've been the second week of May twice in the last few years. Crowds are very manageable.... using Fastpass we never waited over 20 minutes for anything. Weather-wise we had upper 80s and fair weather the first trip... it rained once or twice in the afternoon/evening as a passing thunder shower but that was it. This past May we were treated to record high temps in the range of 95-98 degrees, and we had a few more thunder showers and our last day of the trip it rained off and on.

Overall, a great time of year to go because you are past the Spring Break & Easter crowds, but before the Summer season.

Enjoy your trip!

No better time of year to visit, IMO!!! My wedding anniversary is May 3, have been visiting WDW that week for over ten years, its the best time to go, both crowd and weather wise.

My last four visits have all been in May and I've been treated to high temps, low crowds and great holidays. One word of warning though, never trust the weather stats as there was a recent May that featured rain, rain and more rain. It's the chance you take and I never let the weather spoil my two weeks of holiday goodness.

It is the perfect time to go. Low 80's days cooling off a little at night. Be prepared for short little rain showers every afternoon. No big deal won't last long. Being Easter is early this year crowds should be lower that week. Have a magical vacation!

We need time for things to happen.
We've been visiting the first week of may for the last 6 years.
With the exception of last year - the tempature was always in the 80s and perfectly comfortable in the shade.
The crowds have been moderate to low.
In all the six years we had a total of 2 hours of rain.
Its an excellent time to go.
Last year it was hotter than normal but still fine.
We unfortunately had to change our plans this year and go in september. But you will be taking our place... Have fun!!:D

We've been there a couple of times in early May, and as everyone has said - it's been awesome. Crowd levels are good, temps are usually in the low to mid 80's... A great combination! I have to think that the weather this May is going to be warmer than normal since the winter and spring thus far have been unusually warm. Have fun!

What about a little bit later in May I will be arriving on May 17. I have been going the last week in July for many years. This year I added an additional trip in May. Will I notice a huge difference between May and July?

We learned that lesson -- that was May 2009. We were there the 17th-24th. I believe the total rainfall for the week we were there was about 12". Basically, the equivalent of a tropical storm (minus the wind) stalled over central FL for about 10 days. They got more rain during those 10 days than they got during the 3 hurricanes a few years prior (at least that's what all the weather reporters were saying). We usually travel to DW in June -- right after the kids get out of school for the summer. That year we decided to take them out of school for 4 days and experience DW when it was a little cooler, a little less humid, and a little less crowded than when we usually go. Every bit of research I did pointed to May being a great time to go. Little did we know... Fortunately, we're pretty easy going and we still had a great time despite the rain. Other than getting to all of the fireworks shows (it was raining every night except for one -- and I didn't want to stand out in the rain to watch fireworks), we did everything we wanted to do. We bought the Disney ponchos (the cheapies are fine for the quick showers or staying dry on Kali, but for torrential downpours for hours on end, they just don't cut it.) and set out to have fun. Lines were short, the temperature was very comfortable, and many table service restaurants were able to accommodate walk-ups within 15-20 minutes. I did feel bad for those people who were there for their "once-in-a-lifetime" trip...it was a terrible week for them. But we knew we'd be back so we we didn't let the weather spoil our trip. I wouldn't hesitate to go in May again.

We are visiting for the 2nd year in a row now the first week of May. Last year it was quite hot (we usually also visit in November when it's much cooler) but the crowds were nothing compared to Thanksgiving week or Spring Break weeks when we typically have gone before. All of our FP's had short return times so we were able to get many each day. (One FP we got for Pooh was only 10 minutes out and the regular line was 30 mins... WIN for us!!)

We there at the end of May last year, and it was VERY HOT, but crowds were still manageable. In fact, we were in MK on Memorial Day, and I thought it was going to be a madhouse, but it was actually pretty UN-crowded! Even a few of the cast members I spoke to were surprised at how slow it was.

The only thing I avoided, which I always do (lol) is the main pool at our hotel. THAT was crowded! We stayed at CBR that time, and just took our daughter (she was 1 at the time) into the quiet pool. The main pools, IMO, are just a little too crazy for little ones. I think some parents just use the pool as an excuse for their children to go wild and have zero volume control and manners.

We had a great first-week-of-May trip in 2010 - the weather was perfect (though hot sometimes, but not compared to August) and the crowds were super low. The longest wait was for TSMM - but that was when it was still VERY new. Most of the time we waiting 10-20 minutes for major attractions! I would DEFINITELY return during this time in the future - plus, it wasn't as expensive as you see at other times of the year!
