hi guys new to this website and love it! I have been to Disney world numerous times we always go in September due to low crowds, low number of refurbishments, and generally we get a free dining plan. My husband and I love to try and go the first week of may to see the gardens and flowers festival. Plus try something new:) I have never been at this time though. Just curious what are the crowd levels like? it says online that they are low, but like to hear from someone who has been at this time? generally do they have a lot of rides close down to refurbishments? I have been reading jan-feb are high, which is originally when we were planning going to go. Also does anyone have any idea what special offers they usually offer at this time? One last question I love to be there for when new frozen ride opens up:) does anyone know if this is on track to open april 30 2016?

I'm planning a trip for the same time frame :)
I've read in past years there has been a 25-35% off room rates deal in april-july-ish, they don't announce them until january though.
Frozen ride has a tentative date of May 2016, they haven't said anything past that though, and probably won't for awhile.

I usually go in September too, but last year I went to the F&G festival and Star Wars Weekend.

The crowds were much higher than when I go in September. I am used to walking onto rides with no wait, and many rides had waits for 20-60 minutes. Fortunately, I go there often, so I just skipped rides and focused on the festival, special food at the festival and Star Wars stuff.

They did not have a lot of rides down for refurb, but you never know when your favorites will go down.

Mousesavers keeps track of all historical offers and discounts. They are a great resource and you should check them out. http://www.mousesavers.com/historical-information-on-walt-disney-world-resort-discounts/

I have no info about the Frozen ride other than it is slated to open next year sometime.

it all depends on when in May you go. The first half of the month is very light on crowds, and the end of the month is when it starts to get busy for the summer.

We usually always go the first or second week of May and have great luck with adrs, fp, and low crowds. I will say that the crowds this year when we went (May 5-12), were higher than compared to the last few years, however, wait times and such were still minimal.

Everything was basically a walk on, or up to a max of a 30 minute wait. The only 4 rides with longer wait times were test track, soarin, peter pan, and dwarf mine train all clocking in at just under an hour. We know which rides to fp to avoid the lines so we never waited more than 10-15 minutes to ride anything and most was a walk on. The longest line we waited in was 45 minutes to meet Hiro and Baymax!

weather is always nice in May, but this year it was hot!!!! It was 90s and sunny the entire weekend. Not something i would complain about, but its usually in the upper 70s and 80s, so it was hot and humid! If you want to avoid crowds, do not go to the studios park on the weekend due to star wars weekend, unless your into that, but be prepared for max crowd levels when you go!

Also, i know you said you usually get the dining plan for free, however, there typically always have room discounts for the month of May, so there are discounts available. I have never heard or seen free dining in May.

good luck planning!

We were there May 1st-8th this year & crowds were a bit higher than we expected. Of course, there was a cheer comp. at Disney's Wide World of Sports when we got there. So, that brings up the crowds a bit. F&G was nice but, I enjoyed the F&W better when we went a few years ago. Only refurb was Jungle Cruise. The weather was pleasant(mid 80's) until towards the end of the week where it went into the 90's it got more humid as time went on. As far as discounts, not sure, as we used my older daughter's military discount for rooms & tickets.

The other thing to remember that Star Wars Weekends happens at DHS May/June, so if you're visiting the parks, be prepared for crowds. We were there May 2013 for the opening weekend of SWW and it was heaving. But on the upside mostly everything was operating, there wasn't much in the way of refurbishment going on at the time. F&G at Epcot is well worth a visit, the topiaries and displays are beautiful.

I've gone in May a number of times, its usually not too crazy crowd wise but I have been there once or twice where it was packed to the gills, so much so that it confounded the folks that work there. I asked why its so busy and they didn't understand why. Further discussions led me to believe the cold/snowy winter in the northeast contributed to people wanting a warmer climate.

I don't know if that was the actual reason but it made sense. My rambling point is that its a crap shoot when it comes to crowds, you may luck out , you may not. The weather however show be warm but not oppressively hot/humid. Its generally my favorite time to be there (early May) because of the flowers and warm climate.

The first week in May is one of those sweet spots. We were there this exact time frame this past May, it was excellent.
