First off - Good Luck with the proposal plans!!!!!

Having gone in July from 2013-17 and going this July (116 Days!!!!!!) I can echo what everyone says! It is hot and there are crowds - they are not bad if you expect them!

Additionally - it rains - a lot!!!!! Bring a poncho and an extra pair of worn in shoes - so you have a dry pair at all times. World Showcase mostly but all of Epcot turns into a park full of puddles that you often can't avoid! You can plan on an afternoon storm almost every day - so either watch the weather or plan something covered in the afternoons. Once the storms pass it can often lift that humidity and feel so different than the mornings!

Have fun, slow down and pick a theme for the day. We have snacked around the world, tried seeing all the shows we could, done as many boat rides as possible, monorail crawls and my personal favorite- spend a day at the pool and try working through the pool bar menu. It also helps to know the longer experiences - Carousel of Progress is 20+ minutes of air conditioned sitting (usually with low crowds) - out of the heat, avoid a storm and a quick recharge.

Last tip- make the FP+ early that way you can make more later in the day- even with the crowds last summer we got at least another 5-7 each day for our party of 16 including Rock 'n' Roller Coaster/Midway Mania/Haunted Mansion/Jungle Cruise/Safari. The problem with the heat is often the waiting...this keeps you moving.

I went this past August. It was my first time going in the summer since I was a child. As everyone else has said, its hot. I had two cases of bottled water delivered to my room. I put a bunch in the fridge. Each morning Id stick about 8 bottles in a backpack that I had. I was kinda heavy in the morning but as the day went on and the more my family drank the lighter it got. Many of the lines are inside so even though the lines can be long a lot of time was spent in the AC. The only time that the heat was brutal was when we were in line for Navi River Journey. The wait was 1 hour and 40 minutes and much of the wait was in the sun. Had I known what the ride was I would not have made that mistake. We usually stayed at the parks until supper time and left. We would eat at the resort and spend a couple of hours in the pool. Despite the heat we really had a good time. Also, it was the first week in August and I have seen as bad, if not worse crowds on my last two trips which were in early December and mid Feb.
