Disney in April?

With the new Birthday promotion I was thinking of bringing my daughter for her birthday in April. Has anyone been the last week of April? What are the crowds like? Do they ever have promotions then? We have only been in December and in the Summer.
Thanks for all of your help!!

From what ive heard it is very busy!! Most schools are on spring break and most universitys are wrapping up in the first couple of weeks so that leaves university students able to travel to. I would try to go towards the end if you can.

I've been during April whenever Easter has fallen during the month - its bisy but it is "do-able" and enjoyable. Be wary when Spring Break occurs - these folk are worse than the busy Easter Crowds - basically no manners or respect for anyone else (not everyone - just an idiotic minority)

If I went it would be the last week in April, first 2 days in May. I think all school breaks are done by then ???

Thanks

We've been in early May, and the crowds are not too bad then. It was busier than we thought it would be, but definitely not bad. The weather was quite hot by then too.

It all depends on when Easter falls. When Easter is late, then the crowds creep into the last week of April. However, when Easter is earlier, the last week of April is great. We were there that week in 2006 and 2007, and the crowds were not bad at all. In fact, we had heavier crowds on our mid-January trip of this year then we did on our two late April trips.

In 2009, Easter is mid April. Touringplans.com has mostly 5's and 6's on their crowd prediction calendar for the week you are thinking of going, which is not bad at all. There is even one day with a 4 (May 1), which is about as good as you can get.

Thats when were planning on going too! Weve gone during the first week of may and it wasnt bad at all, it was busy compaired to october and begining of december (which are the times ive gone before).. but the crowds are defintally managable. the only problem i found was there was along of students staying at the resorts for grad nights

The crowds are heaviest over the actual Easter weeks but spring break crowds last a little longer. My guess is that it will be manageable. Not as quiet as if you went in January but better than Summer / Christmas. With a little bit of planning (get those ADR's sorted as soon as possible) and a bit of knowledge you shouldn't have any problems and you will be able to enjoy lots and lots of attractions.

How long are you thinking of going for?

We went for one week 28APR05 to 05MAY05 and it was just fine. We go annually in early December and just wanted to check out the world one year not at Christmas. Overall the crowds were the same.

It was entirely too hot for me during that time. Each day we were there it was 98 to 99 degrees of humidity until it finally rained one day. We got stuck in the biggest downpour, during Fantasmic, they cancelled it and just imagine the whole place emptying into the bus stops. Nobody was going back into the park as the rain was super horrific. We all had fun though and talk about drenched!!! I started getting a pretty nasty cold on my last day there for going into the dry/cool of air conditioning and out into the wet/heat of the Florida sun.

We went right back to our annual Christmastime decoration/early December visits. Cooler and more comfy for me.

The last week of April-May is wonderful. I've been to WDW during Easter and Christmas and both times were very managable. Depending upon when Easter falls this year, it might be busy with people on spring break. Either way, its an awesome time to go. Just wake up early, hit the big rides in the morning, and relax. Do what you can and don't worry about it. No matter what the crowds are like, you'll have a great time! :)

We went at the end of April through the beginning of May in 07 and were very
pleased with the crowd levels and the weather. I think you'll have a great time!
But I suppose that goes without saying.

We love going the first or second week in May. The crowds are good but it is very hot. Upper 80's to mid 90's.
We are so sad that we cannot go during this time of year for quite awhile, due to DD being in Jr High. It's impossible to take her out of school for a week when she has 7 classes per day. Have a great trip and a wonderful time. Tell Mickey that we will be back to see him....sometime.

We went for the last two weeks of April this year and it was perfect. We had no rain at all, and the sun shone all the time without being uncomfortably hot. The lines weren't very long either - with the exception of Peter Pan of course! -and Spring Break was done. There weas a Grad Nite in the middle but we hardly saw anything of it, we just avoided MK that day.

We enjoyed it so much we are going again in 2009 but are going one week later due to the later Easter. We much preferred it to our December 2005 trip, when we had to buy gloves and warm clothes!

Last three years have done the last Monday of April into the weekend (sometimes it falls into May) also plan on the 27th to the 2nd this coming year. My DD loves the Flower and Garden Show, and we are also hoping for a Pirate and Princess Party. We missed it last year as it was only held on the night we departed.

Crowds weren't bad any of those 3 years. Weather has varied. Being from NJ, it's basically what we have here at that time, but can get very humid mid-day. Last year, I actually had my daughter in pants and a jacket around 4pm most days. It got chilly. Never had rain any of the 3 trips at that time.

With the economy the way it is, I expect it to be smaller crowds if it stays the way it is. I am just watching the airfare to determine when I am booking.

If you happen to be staying the weekend of Grad Nite, don't stay in the Values. That's part of the reason we leave on Friday now. Most of the kids were as nice as could be, while others were obnoxious and gross. One night we had a bus driver stop the bus and turn on the lights because one of the fathers almost beat the daylights out of one of the kids for attempting to show his private parts on the bus. The next night, we had kids singing Disney songs with vulgar words instead. Wasn't fun! Now that I have a 3 year old parrot, it's easier to avoid the crowds of teens.

We've been down many times in April, including this past one during Easter. The weather is usually beautiful...and you just have to plan on dealing with crowds. The plus to being down during holidays is that the parks are open so much later, so you can escape to the pool in the afternoon when all the little ones are getting so tired. You just have to have the right attitude...which is...Hey I'm in Disney!!!:sohappy:
