Disney Gondola Skyliner

This might have been mentioned before but I do like this idea of a gondola system. But I think Disney might be relying on these too much as a form of transportation. The severe lightning storms that occur frequently in Florida will have these shut down quite often and for long periods of time. And also I assume they will have air conditioning in each car. Correct??

No A/C is brutal.

Be interesting to see what emergency measures are included.
What's the time between stops? And how would guests be able to contact anyone for assistance?

There's an oddness to this system that just doesn't sit well with me.

Gondolas without A/C operate in area of the world with weather that is as bad if not worse then Florida. With proper ventilation, it won't be a problem.

The systems have multiple backups to keep the line moving in the event of failures.

You will probably only be in the car for 5 minutes or less so if there is an emergency you are only a few minutes from a station anyway. Besides, most people today carry phones.

There is really nothing "odd" about this system. These have been used all over the world for decades now with few serious problems. It's a solid, proven technology.

Lightning will not shut them down due to many safeguards in place.

It just seems like it will take longer to get to places using them. most families are in a hurry. I don't see any really benefit with these.

It seems like it?

Do you have hard numbers to back that up? Because in this thread we've put up hard numbers to show that it will not take longer.

Has disney put out the numbers yet on expected capacity?

If they don't kill you they will have you arrive thinner as the extreme heat will cause water loss. They probably can only move 4-5 people an hour though. Disney is hoping to really get people mad.

Not officially. One of their Skyliner slides at D23 showed in the background a particular gondola style that Doppelmayr makes. The owner of a lift blogging site, @Lift Blog , has further narrowed it down to an 8 seater, confirmed by other insiders. Doppelmayr 8-seaters can do 2,200 - 2,500 people per hour.
