Disney Gift Cards For Dining

I have a question about gift cards, can they be used as payment for Dining? I saved up a good amount of spending money and wanted to put almost all of it on multiple gift cards to better keep track of spending. I read some info about what they can be used for at their website and I didn't see anything about using them for Dining. LOL.

I don't think it should be a problem, some people do exactly that instead of paying for a dining plan - they put the money they would spend on the DP, on a gift card and use it to pay for their meals and snacks. It gives them more flexibility, plus they don't have to get unwanted, but included, items. For example not everyone wants a dessert with every meal, but except for breakfast, the DP includes one - or - some people prefer an appetizer rather than a dessert. Sounds like a good plan to me!

You can definitely do that. We've done it many times before. We've even done it whilst on the DDP and used the GC to pay for tips. Not a problem.

I paid for all of my food the last two trips using gift cards. It was so much easier then using cash and a way better method to keep track of spending if you are into that. I did use cash to tip if we ate at a restaurant that required tipping but I used the gift cards for everything from water to snacks and meals.

Yes! In fact when we have stayed off-site and not had charging privileges via MagicBands that's exactly what we've done.

Thanks everybody, I appreciate the insights, I'm going to purchase a few right now. Say, can you buy them at Walmart? It seems like you can only purchase them online but Walmart always has a bunch of Giftcards for everything.

I'm not sure about Walmarts, but Sam's Club will have them for a slighty discounted price. Walgreens also has them.

Not sure what you are talking about. Have only ever seen gift cards with simply "Disney Gift Card. "

I would say yes, you can use those cards. But they also take the generic Disney gift cards at the restaurants.

I bet it is the card given to groups (for example marching bands) to pay for their meals. They used to use paper vouchers; now debit cards.

You can also purchase gift cards online from Disney. They have a great variety of different cards.

Yeah, I've been on the website checking out what they have. The thing is that I'd much rather be able to get it from Walgreens than from Disney because I want it now. LOL. Hey, I'm impatient. But the website will basically be the last resort in case I can't find one.

Another quick question, does Disney sell Gift Cards that have a $1000 value? I see $500 but nothing more than that.
