Disney For Teachers?

I am a teacher, and have trouble affording Disney during the peak times to visit. They are really the only times available to me, as when the kids are in school, so am I. Does anyone know of any deals or suggestions for traveling that educators might be able to take advantage of? I can't wait to get back, and it's been less than a year...

The swan and Dolphin give teacher discounts, but that's about all that I know of.

The discounts are amazing when you compare the teacher discount to the rack rates. Rack rates being about 350.00 a night, the discount, before resort fees and taxes is 159.95.....Still much more expensive than the all stars at peak season. We went in July and got rates of like 114 a night (after tax) at the Pop Century. Rooms are a bit on the high side, but if you try and stay at a cheaper hotel in Kissimmee, you will more than likely get stuck with a roach motel, unfortunately. I have tried this and will never stay anywhere but Disney property. I have heard, thoguh, that the radisson resort parkway has good rates, as does a fairmont complex near downtown disney...oh, i would also recommend the Grosvenor for their, usually low rates. I have never stayed there, but i could have gotten that hotel for 69.95 during July. I am spoiled, however, and opted for the additional expense for a Disney hotel. There is nothing else like it.
I would recommend planning your trip far in advance and pay on it little by little throughout the year prior to the trip. I have done that before, especially when i was in college.....Good Luck....

We are both teachers and we go 3 times a year, Spring BReak, Summer, and Christmas. We bought Annual Passes, and use the AP Rate which is usually much cheaper for hotels. We always stay on property as well. Even though it may cost more it is worth it. Also, we bought a AAA membership (not sure of the cost but something like $50). When you call DIsney has discounted rates if you are a AA member. Its not as good as AP rates, but not bad. Feel free to email me directly if you havee any other Q's: unc6@Hotmail.com

It sounds to me like you are making ressie's at last minute. You can make ressie's up to a year in advance, pay little bits here and there and you'll see how affordable it can be. But if you don't want to do all the work, check with Kingdom Kunsultants, Pam will find every discount there is and then some, all you have to do is ask. Good luck! :animwink:

Check with the Swan and Dolphin, they are the only ones with a teacher discount. And even with that discount, the rooms were significantly more than the value resorts at Disney.

Also, if you book a Disney package on your Disney Visa, you have 6 months to pay it off without interest, another option to try.

Or, maybe if you are going to be having a long weekend, maybe you could just take one or two days off around it. I work in the school system as well and when we have our fall break (Thursday and Friday), I just take off the Wednesday and Monday around them. That way I only missed 2 days of work, but got 6 days of vacation!
