Disney First Aid?

How many of you ever saw Disney's Medic Team around the parks because of someone passed out from the heat or maybe someone fell down??

I know as many times i been there i have not seen them come out for anything.

And i know someone is going to say they have a Medic Team.. you know what i mean. :cool:

During our visit in October, An elderly person fell down at Magic Kingdom while waiting for the resort bus, and ended up hitting their head on the metal line barriers. My husband is a paramedic so he went over right after it happened to see if he could help. The Disney Medics showed up just moments after.

Yep we have our own paramedics through the Reedy Creek Fire Department. They can be most places within 5 minutes. The whole point is for them to not detract from the show when they aren't performing their duties so they are typically backstage. Although they are from the Fire Department they are technically Disney Employees.

We saw them twice while there in December 2010. Before that I had never seen them. The first time was during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. It was dark and we almost did not see them because of the crowds. Disney employees were standing in a line blocking the view. An elderly woman was on the ground. It looked to me like she maybe tripped over the curb in the hub in front of the castle. Then again in the Magic Kingdom during the day we saw them come out from backstage near The Hall of Presidents pushing a stretcher with their bags on it...moving quickly. We were going in the opposite direction so I don't know what happened that time.

At a Christmas Party in November 2011 I saw the firemen going in an area right next to the bathrooms by Peter Pan, and on the roof. It was kind of exciting, they were rushing through really fast.

I've seen them once when my grandpa was trying to look in the street and fell out of his wheel chair. (I know I know, but I have NO IDEA how it happened!! :/ )

Other than that I only see medic people when I go to first aid, almost every trip, lol.

I've only ever seen the professional paramedics of RCID respond to emergencies within the park. Although the handful of times I have been to First Aid (including this past Monday) they have always done a very good job.



PS it is a sign of getting old when you fall off of a bike and notice a softball size swelling in your knee about three hours later.

Reedy Creek Emergency Services has almost 200 paid employees. They respond to all calls within disney world and also to a few on the outskirts of the property out of 4 firehouses located on the property.

Yeah i would think they have to react very quickly due to the amount of people in the parks.

You know when we go i seen people sitting down holding there leg or foot, a lot of guest underestimate the walking you about to do in these parks. Along with the heat in certain times...

They're quick to respond at the resorts as well. Back in 2008, my DS had a seizure (his only one, ever, and at WDW, no less). We called 911 and paramedics arrived in short order.

I hit my head leaving the Magic Kingdom after MNSSHP in 2009. We were in the queue for the bus back to POP and a kid on his fathers shoulders dropped his toy while he was falling asleep, I went to pick it up for them and smashed my head on the metal bar... got a real good bump on the head, everyone around us saw it but no one really did anything or seemed to care. I fell asleep on the bus and woke up scared, shaking, and nauseous. my boyfriend told someone at Classic Hall when we got there and they called for the paramedics, but they were not Disney staff. They were pretty rude. I wish somebody would have called for medical attention before I got on the bus though :/ not sure if these Medics are just in the parks or all over the resort. :veryconfu

The Reedy Creek Fire Department is a paid fire department that was created by the City of Orlando for the Disney Property. RCFD are not Disney Employees. :)

I saw them approaching a woman on the ground at the hub in the MK, but I'm not a gawker and didn't hang around to watch "the show."

Once I saw them near the entrance in DHS.

The only other times are at Epcot during the Candlelight Processional, but that's a predictable and common thing.

They local news told us how many calls they get a year. I don't remember the number, but it was extraordinarily high. I think they respond to a lot more than just emergencies.
