disney dream staterooms compared to the magic and wonder

As someone that's never been on a cruise before I was extremely excited about disneys new ship, the dream, arriving in 2011. until I noticed the size of the staterooms. Every room that I compared was smaller than rooms on the wonder or magic, with a veranda room losing 65 square feet. seems odd for a ship that is 40% larger than its predecessors. At least the cruise will be cheaper. :ROFLOL:

Did you note that the Dream room sizes state "excludes veranda" ? Magic/Wonder room sizes included the veranda, Dream room sizes do not. Be sure to take that into consideration.

From http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/s...asy/deluxe-oceanview-stateroom-with-verandah/
Dream: Size: 203 sq. ft. excluding verandah

From http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/s...der/deluxe-oceanview-stateroom-with-verandah/
Magic/Wonder: Size: 268 sq. ft. including verandah

I don't know how large the verandah will be on the Dream.

Disney still has larger staterooms than many other cruise lines.

Joe is right, the Dream verandah rooms are measured differently than the Magic and Wonder. They didn't lose 65 feet.

Some rooms did lose about 10 square feet, but they also made some cheaper categories bigger to accomodate families of 5.

I think you'll still find the rooms pretty spacious compared to standard rooms on most cruise lines.:)

They do appear to be slightly smaller than the Magic / Wonder but not by much. Staterooms without verandahs look to be about 10 sq ft smaller or so. They different ways of calculating the square footage when it comes to including or excluding the verandahs makes it difficult to directly compare.

Tammy, what do you think about those rooms in the very front of the Dream on deck 6,7, & 8? We booked 6000 for a B2B since we thought it might be cool to be able to look right out the front of the ship from our room.

I think they look great! I agree, I think looking out the front of the ship would be awesome!

We won't know anything for sure, until people start sailing and we see stateroom reports, but I think you made a good choice. :)

while I seen what joe was talking about, if you go to book a cruise it says "including veranda", which will probably confuse alot of people.

They also seem to have more floor space. The Dream does not have that steamer trunk looking thing at the foot of the bed.

it also has shelves instead of teh nightstand. So while the wall to wall area is smaller, you may get more open floor space. Of course we are talking on the order of a few square feet here. And its mainly in corners. Not like anyone is going to be dancing in it :)

I was looking at them as well.

The Presidential Suites look, well, sweet! They are on the corners as well, with your own personal hot tub on your verandah. Some day ..... some day. :)

We have decided to switch to stateroom 8000 so we could be higher up...we were getting the feeling that on deck 6 we might not see much except for the bow of the ship. Maybe now on deck 8 we can get a little better view.

You are right, deck 8 will have a better view. You have got to take pictures of your room, and show them to us.:)

Don't go getting all rowdy in that section of the ship and wrecking things.

We are in 8004 on the Aug 7 5 night sailing. :)
