Right. But Disney profits more than any other corporation from the people in this region. I am not an economic leftist by any means, but 50K is kind of sad.... even Castro offered somewhere between 10M-15M for Katrina help.
Sure Disney doesn't need to offer anything, nor does Target, Best Buy or Ford Motor Company... but who is a synonymous with Central Florida? Who makes money at the cost of state infrastucture? I'm not saying that Disney HAS to give more than this. What I am saying is that they should recognize their role in the community. Given their rights under (somewhat) false pretenses, they should embrace moments like this as ways to get around paying taxes. The Walt Disney Company should use natural disasters, personal and communal crises as well as random charity cases as premium publicity opportunities.

And Castro was sincere?
By the way, let's read the entire press release that Speck provided:
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., February 3, 2007 – The Walt Disney Company announced today a $50,000 donation to the American Red Cross to aide in relief efforts following the severe storms and tornados that impacted Central Florida on Friday, February 2.
“Central Florida is our home and we are committed to assisting in the rebuilding efforts,” said Meg Crofton, President, Walt Disney World Resort. “As the relief efforts progress, we will continue to help those in need through strong community partnerships throughout Central Florida.”Disney Worldwide Outreach and Walt Disney World Resort will provide ongoing support through in-kind contributions to Red Cross shelters. The donations include water, blankets, pajamas, games, DVDs and other items.
Also, it seems to me that Disney doesn't wait for natural disasters, personal and communal crises to engage in supporting the community:
