Disney Dining Plan question

Hi all, so I've just booked my trip for this October to the world, for some bizzare reason OKW was far too cheap so for the first time ever I'm in an up market disney hotel and I seem to have gotten free dining too. Now I've been reading up on this and I've just made my reservations online and was just looking for a bit of advice from the more experienced dining plan user as I've never even sen one before. I check in on the 26/09/10 and check out 10/02/10, do you guys know if I get ddp credits for the check in and check out days even though I'm not there all day? Also, we normally spend a few days away from the world when we go so I was thinking of cramming 2 table service meals into some days, do you know if this is allowed? Also, it seems like you get a hell of a lot to book, do you guys make all your table service reservations before you go or do you book say half of them and just see whats avaliable for the rest when you get there? I've booked 9 so far and I gotta say I'm struggling to actually use them all.

Sorry for all the noobish questions but any help would be greatly appreciated

Oh and also I've made all my reservations online, I haven't been asked if I'm on the dinging plan or anything, is this normal? Do I just give them my card instead of cash after I've eaten my weight in food

You get credits based on the number of nights you're staying, not days. All your credits are available for use from the time you check in until midnight after checkout and you can use them any way you want. You can pig out on check in day and use all your credits that day if you can [I doubt it would be possible]. You can use two credits for a signature restaurant or singles as required until you run out. If you have any credits left by midnight on the day you check out, they expire, but you can have dinner after you've checked out using up last credits.

If you have snack credits left, you can stock up on stuff to take home.

Oops missed some questions:

If you entered your room reservation to book ADRs, the system knows you're on DDP. If not, they'll likely ask when you check in at the restaurants. It makes it easier for the servers to explain what you get included and what you would have to pay for.

You're there during free dining, book any ADRs you want in advance, the restaurants get full and often you can't just walk up during free dining there are just no openings.

Since you're there for 6 nights, you'll have 6 Table Service, 6 Quick Service and 7 Snack credits each. Your credits are pooled on all the room keys, so you don't necessarily have to eat together and anyone can use credits, they're shared, not person-specific. Every receipt you get will show how many credits of that type are left for use.

Excellent, thanks for all the help, the dining plan seems pretty awsome, so much food!
You're welcome!

I'm actually not a fan of DDP. Too much food and the credits system is too convoluted for me. I prefer a lot more TS than QS dining and end up paying OOP for extra TS and have QS left over.

I save much more by getting an AP discount on the resort and using the TiW discount card for dining.

We booked the same offer, we are staying at OKW for 3 weeks in August which we got for £100 a night along with Free Dining!! What a great offer:sohappy:

We have a TS booked for everyday we are there!
Paid out of pocket for Spirit of Aloha Category 1 and used 2 credits for CRT on our last day!! Every other day we have a 1 credit TS meal booked! We usually have booked all star or pop but we paid an extra £700 for the hotel so we would save £2500 on free dining!!
Best deal ever

I know I couldn't believe old key west was so cheap! With the money we're saving on free dining it's actually costing way less than staying at a value resort!
