Mundane snacks!?

...The original list of snacks was pretty mundane...

What? You have problem a bottle of water(still laugh at the fact people pay what they do for one of the most plentiful resources on the planet), a single piece of fruit(yeah, that's worth $3 or $4), or a tiny bag of chips(mostly air) to get your money's worth on the plan? :D

I wonder how many bags of chips they sell or are consumed as snacks on the dining plan? To me, that's up there with the bottle of water as far as unbelievable markup.

Am I so far out of the loop that I didnt know it was opened to DVC Members???? I guess I should call Member Services??

Any DVC Members got details or signed up for the plan yet and know how it works?

We are DVC members and have added the DDP for our trip at the end of September this year. This will be our first time for us to try the plan. The cost for DVC members is $37.99 per adult for each night of your stay, which includes tax and gratuity, and is payable to the resort upon checkin. You just need to request in advance that the plan be added to your reservation.

Used the plan through DVC last week, Paid $ 307.00 for 2 of us, Kept track of how much our meals would have cost if we would have paid cash. It would have been $ 480.00 and that did not include tips that were included in the plan, Great deal, Glad we can use it with our DVC stays now.:p

On my visit last week I tried to get a DOLE Whip as a snack and the counter CM told me that You could not use that as a snack on the Dinning plan. :dazzle:

We went there on Friday (May 5) and were told you could not use the dining plan for a Dole Whip. However, there was that cute little square for the dining plan next to it, so we asked the lady who waited on us to check. She called her supervisor, and she did give it to us on the dining plan.

I noticed a lot of downfalls with the dining plan. I was looking forward to it, but I don't believe we will get on the dining plan next time we go.

That's the same way it is for non DVC memeber as well. I'm looking forward to using this for the first time in Nov. We've never tried it before, but hear such wonderful things about it.

Mark up or not, when you are on the dining plan and not paying for it, does it really matter.

I think Disney is one of the few places I buy bottled water because (1) it's cold and (2) it tastes good. The water fountains in disney are warm and the water tastes gross.

Could you please elaborate on the downfalls? I am thinking of using this for a large group trip, but might just deal with cash instead if its a big hassle.

Dwarful, I have another post here called something like dining plan review where I stated some of the things we ran into.

We found the service wasn't as good as it would have been if we paid cash. Also, if you are diabetic, its really not worth it because there aren't many diabetic dessert options. You eat way too much and end up wasting a lot of food.

It's really not a hassle if you understand the way the plan works. With a large group, cash will probably cost you much, much more in the long run.
