Disney and Lucasfilm are about to Force choke your Summer 2017 plans. Episode VIII has been delayed until the end of next year.

The film has been dated for December 15, which also happens to be the current release date for the film adaptation of Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One. Also scheduled for that month is Avatar 2.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is now the highest grossing domestic release with over $861.3 million in revenue. The movie currently sits at third on the global box office rankings with $1.886 billion.

Star Wars Episode VIII will be written and directed by Rian Johnson (Looper). The movie is currently in the pre-production phase.

It's just been reported that Avatar 2 will not make it to it's 2017 Christmas release as it's been "delayed". Is this a coincidence? I think not. Seems to me that James Cameron doesn't believe in the spirit of competition. What a sore loser.

gives Pirates a better shot at succeeding by moving it to a great weekend. Looking forward to that.

really liked episode 7 and have no problem with this, the full 2 year wait makes it better sometimes. you'll have 'rogue' soon anyway (dec '16) and doing episode 8 within 6 months of rogue would have been too much too soon IMO
