Has anyone taken a disney cruise using their DVC points? I've read that sometimes you get on-board credits when you book it, is that true? Which seven-day cruise is best, eastern or western?

Yeah. DW and I did for our 4 day cruise in November of 2001. We didn't get any shipboard credits, but I don't know if they were doing any promo like that when we booked.

As for the best 7 day cruise... I _hope_ it's the western one because we're going on it this November. :)

If you are a Disney Club member you get $50 of on-board credit, we were able to take advantage of that in Feb 00 and now again when we go in Mar 03. However, just found out that after this year there will no longer be a Disney Club. The paperwork we got for the new year, announced this was the last year for it!

We are also DVC members, (our 1st visist as DVC is in 6 weeks). We have never taken a cruise on our points, but have heard it is often a better deal to bank your points and pay cash. Also if you use DCV points there is also a 75 dollar cash fee for booking.

Having said that we probually will take a cruise using our points someday, but for now we are happy with the parks.
