My wife and I are taking our first cruise shortly. How soon can we expect to recieve our "packet" and will it contain information as to when the buses will abe leaving our resort to head to the port?

I love the Disney Cruise Line! You should receive your cruise documents approximately 2 weeks before your cruise. It may be a little less if you booked through a travel agent or other retailer.

As for buses I *think* they are first come first served and as you debark you get on the next available bus.

If you're a first time cruiser (like me) I would recommend checking out a copy of the Passporter Disney Cruise Line book. The paperback version is only like $12 on Amazon.com and I've found it to be GREAT when it comes to putting your mind at ease about the DCL. They cover essentially EVERYTHING you could possibly want to know about cruising with Disney.

It also has information on the Disney motorcoaches, and it says that around 10-11AM you'll be instructed to meet at a central location in your Disney resort and then the motorcoaches leave for Port Canaveral between 11 and 11:45AM. I would *imagine* that when you get your final cruise papers they will specify the times, but I also know that the Disney Cruise Line has desks at each of the affiliated Disney resorts and so if you get to WDW and still don't know what time they plan to pick you up you can always ask at the desk. (But don't quote me on that one, hehe.)

I hope that helped - I know I'm always hunting for more DCL info to help me feel more prepared! :)

disney also gives you the option of going to AK in the morning. You then leave for the cruise directly from AK. If you have the park tickets available, this would be a great option. We were not able to try it though.
