My new project! This is my plan to expand the Disney Cruise Line, adding a third and fourth ship to the fleet (currently maxing in at 2 ships!) I've already chosen names, but if you have better names, please contribute to the names! The names are Disney Dreams and Disney Wishes, with us beginning with the Disney Dreams. The differences between the ships are similar to the Magic and Wonder, a main dining room, atrium statue, themes, buffet, teen club, forward Mickey, aft statue, etc. Everyone and anyone wishing to contribute to the project will be most welcome. I'm gonna begin in a few days, so now is just brainstorming sessions. Brainstorm names, themes, anything you want.

Themes Brainstorm
Victorian
French Quarter
Tropical
Modern (think of the rumored Contemporary refurb)
Asian
European
International
Nautical
....

Why not combine both ships together to make a MEGA liner?....Twice the ship with an adjoining rotunda in the middle. Perhaps it could sustain 'round the world voyages and stop at EACH port of call as part of the DisneySea initiative.??

The ship has to be the same length and width as the Magic and Wonder so it can fit through the Panama Canal. Both ships are Panamax size, so... The ships will have more decks, however. Magic/Wonder have 11, Dreams/Wishes will have 14 or 15

I was thinking for Dreams/Wonder to offer an historical retrospect.. a timeline of sorts. Have each level represent a different period of history either of the US or the World.

Disney's America ....rather than as a stationary location..a journey through history while at sea. Cruise from the East Coast then would differ from the West Coast sailing by offering a unique voyage.

I know this sounds similar to posted ideas, but I was going for a storyline. Each level of the ship has its own story..as part of a timeline that could be explored over the 14 day voyage.

I really like that concept, it's definetly doable. I don't think the names Wishes and Dreams really fit history though. But I really love that concept, maybe as a fifth ship?

I really like your new names for them. They totaly fit. but I think I would like to see simmilar themeing to the other two ships, but maybe on a more grand scale, meanning more decks. I would also think it would be cool to do a medditrainian cruise with one of them. That could be really cool.

I'd love a Mediterranean Cruise. But the current plans is for Dreams to have 10 and 4 night cruises out of Port Canaveral and Wishes having 7 night cruises out of LA. Magic and Wonder will stay in Port Canaveral, with the Wonder doing 3 and 4 night Mexico cruises in the summer. Theming, I was thinking of a modern nautical theme? It would be a bit like the Wonder's art nouveau theme, but I'm not too sure yet. Any help would be most appreciated!

the plans for the ships sounds good. I actually was on the wonder, and it was quite nice. I'd say go for that one.

have you thought of what chractors to name the resturant after (like Lumiar's and Tritions?)

Thanks for your comment! I've seen pictures of the Wonder, which is really beautiful, so that's swaying me...

As for the formal restaurant names, I was thinking of something like Briar Rose for one ship, themed to Sleeping Beauty. For the other ship, I was thinking of something themed to Cinderella... but I think it would really have to be based on the theme of the ship...

I've narrowed my theme choices!

Narrowed Theme Choices
Victorian
Modern
Modern Nautical
European

I'm not too sure yet, but I'm leaning towards Modern Nautical and European, so I'll take a vote with all of the above choices. Start voting!

I vote for Modern nautical and European too.

and I like Briar Rose. That sounds so cool. I'm not sure how you could get Cinderella sounding like that. Maybe Jack-Jack's? I dont know, dont listen to me on that one. keep it up though

Okay, cool. I wish more people would visit the thread, but alas...

Okay, so the official themes are Modern Nautical and European.

Disney Dreams will be Modern Nautical and will feature the other restaurant (no character, theme yet)

Disney Wishes will be European and will feature Briar Rose... probably...

Peoples! Pooooost!

I've been doing some brainstorming and I thought of this AMAZING tropical restaurant. It's called High Seas and guests dine on mini-pirate ships and the whole setting is that you're in port. There's a dark blue carpet, with lighter swirls shaped so it looks like water. On the far wall, there's a mural of a port. Sometimes, thanks for fiber-optics, you can see some buildings burning on the horizon. As for the pirate ships, each are about 4/5 feet tall and have ramp leading to the upper decks where the tables are. The places where the servers place the trays, used plates, food, cups, etc. is worked into the pirate ships hull, so as not to disturb the look "on deck." The pillars in the restaurant are the masts on the pirate ships, each complete with withits own "lookout". The ceiling is special fiber-optic work that can make the stars twinkle at night (Whether it's morning, afternoon, or night, it's always night in High Seas). The buffet is designed to look like a pier where the "pirate ships" dock.

As for the formal restaurant on the Dreams, I was sort of thinking of something like The Nautilus? It could be very cool, but I'm not sure if it would be formal enough and too much discovery theme. The portholes in the restaurant would be designed so that you can see the squid, Ariel in Atlantica, Nemo and Friends, Mermaid Lagoon in Peter Pan, and more. It's a very cool restaurant and maybe too magical and less formal? Let me know.

Nautilus could work. Captain Nemo's or maybe Ned Land's (too obscure a reference?). Kraken (the giant squid)?

As for the High Seas, you might need a lot of fiber optic strands to do it, but what if you worked the ceiling so that the constellations gradually move over the course of your meal, so it looks like your drifting out to sea? And the waiters, of course, will have to "request to come aboard, captain?"

I like your ideas for High Seas. Well, I was thinking of fiber optics. If they can put fiber optics in the ceilings of the Walt Disney Theatre, Buena Vista Theatre, and the Oceaneer's Club, we can put fiber optics in the ceiling of a restaurant!

Any ideas for a magical restaurant? This will be veryyy hard, and it must be unique. No Animator's Palate. We'll need our best Imagineers on this job!

Magical Restaurant...well let's start this in true Imagineer fashion, with a few "what ifs":

What if we could make the walls, floor and ceiling gradually disappear, so that the tables (and walkways for the waitstaff) simply hovered over the open ocean?

What if the waitstaff were all actually skilled magicians who made orders magically appear on the table.

What if the restaurant were actually some sort of upscale dark ride?

What if the restaurant turned into other things (forest, desert, opera house, spaceliner, WWII-era zepplin...etc.)?

What if you could have dinner with Walt?

Who's got other wild ideas? We can work on the HOW later...

I like the transforming place, that sounds awesome. Each corse a new destnation. Man you could totaly go from Paris, to the moon, to Hawii and the heart of a Disney movie all in one night.

My idea is of a perfect sunset. The place would look like the top deck of the ship and your on the open sea. You walk in and its bright and sunny. then as the meal progresses, the "sun" sinks down one of the walls. the lights gradualy change from bright sunny light, to deep reds and pinks then to blues and purples, and as desert rolls out, its a beautiful night sky, complet with stars and the moon. And centerpices on each table magicly bust into soft, romantic, light. perhaps candles, maybe Tinkerbell fluttering around.

Thats what I got.

I actually had the exact same idea for the transforming place, lol.

My original idea had the place synchronized (sp?) to Disney music. So when a song like "Cruella DeVille" came on, the place would be covered in spots. When "Bare Necessities" came on: LOOK! We're in a jungle!

Get it?

I do like many of the other ideas though. All of them are plausible, but remember, we have limited space to build this.

Ideas

These are all great ideas i cant think of many my self but:
Disney princesses
DIsney's Fantasia (I always hoped they would convert the contemporary into
a hotel themed to this disney masterpiece)
-I like the european theme Idea
-The problem with moder is that disney always has a problem with doing modern themes. things become outdated and old fasion before too soon.

restraunts
-eat around the world. a restraunt loosly themed around the world showcase in Epcot that serves a new menue from a diffrent country every night. The themeing could be mini's of famous landmarks of the world including: Eifel tower, Statue of liberty, Brandenburg gate... but these minis wont be so mini they would be like 10- 12 feet tall.

YOu could do a jungle type themed restraunt with theming just like the rainforest cafe but add classic disney characters like the jungle book characters, Tarzan, George of the jungle, and so on

These are just a few ideas, but I love the transforming place though

The Dreams will be a modern nautical, think of Donald's clothes, and make it more modern.

I like your idea of Eat Around the World, it's like the Food and Wine Festival. Anyway, there's already a theme night on the ships called the Around the World Dinner, featuring cuisine representing nationalities already represented by the cast and crew of the ship.

A jungle portion of the transforming restaurant was an idea.
