Disney Cracking Down on Podcasters?

I checked to see if there was a thread on this already and there was not or maybe it was tacked on to an existing thread. (Also I am not one hundred percent sure this isn't an April's Fools joke but it looks legit).

Did anyone see the cease and desist letter that went out to the WDW Kingdomcast guys? Now, I am not an avid listener of the show but I appreciated what the guys were doing. It was something different and I applaud that. However, I am shocked to see Disney crack down like this.

So here's my question(s) ... does this mean other shows will get these types of letters?

Does this mean shows who aren't served letters are "approved" by Disney (or endorsed or in Lou's case ... subsidized)?

I think if this is not a joke it opens up a big can of worms in terms of the podcast world ... I'm curious what @WDW1974 thinks about this ... maybe it's the beginning of a crack down?

Or maybe Disney just didn't like their "take" or honesty and decided to chop it off ... what do you think?

If it's not Disney approved, and it was considered an "official " podcast, then I bet Disney axed it!:(
Disradio has a pretty good podcast. Long and boring sometimes, but not too bad.;)

That they need to stop using the mouse ears hat in their logo as well as not using some Disney owned recordings.

The logo is an easy fix.

They may be playing more recordings than "fair use" allows. Not every podcast makes heavy use of Disney produced recorded material.

Well ... I understand what you're saying but they make it sound like there is no quick fix because they are shutting it all down.

I'm not entirely convinced. The last line of Point 2 on the second page reads "of THE WALT DISNEY COMPANIES intellectual property." Shouldn't that be possessive, not plural? As in The Walt Disney Company's property. Seems like a minor mistake that would undermine the image of a lawyer. Also would think the lawyer's name/firm would pop up on a search.

Wow, great catch. I tried to do mild due diligence before posting but you trumped me ... so maybe it is an April Fool's gag.

I guess I bought into it because Disney is so exacting in how they manage their blog and how other podcasts seem to "fall in line" with what they want.

Case in point, Lou clearly bends to their wishes, because he gets to conduct tours in parks for profit. So yes the podcasts that are a little more honest/critical/questioning I can totally see this happening and I expected it (hence why I bought this).
