Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

Well, after almost 1200 posts I'll add my 2 cents. I feel like Frozen would be better off as a whole land (Arrendelle, the Castle, North Mountain) with a couple of rides and gift shops just for frozen. DHS and EPCOT need the Frozen boost more, but MK would be the best home for them and maybe even keep the Sing Along in DHS and Anna and Elsa could host Akershus in EPCOT. They need to be adding attractions in the World Showcase, not replacing even if they are dull. And even if they would go with my dream world plan, they'd still need to keep (or start) doing new things in EPCOT and DHS while MK would be getting Frozen land and AK getting Pandora. This is definitely going to help EPCOT, but they need to put their plan into action NOW and not take 5 years to construct it. I can see the lines stretching alllll the way to Japan. I'm anxious to see how they plan for crowds. It was insane for a M & G, now imagine a ride!

Surveys made specifically to get a certain answer. I remember someone said yesterday they or someone with them took a survey on food in AK that would NOT let them say anything negative.

Don't be naive. No company spends millions in consumer research for no reason.

Instead of sharing my disgust through words, I will now be showing it through action. We will not be visiting the Walt Disney World resort next year. Our Disney week will be spent at the Disneyland Resort.
Meanwhile, millions of others will still continue to go (and enjoy it)! We'll see how this works out for you. Disneyland is great and you should visit it, but not in spite of WDW.

I'll still go and enjoy it. If they start closing Spaceship Earth, Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, then we'll have a problem ;)

Frozen is based on Scandinavian folklore. As are the trolls in Maelstrom

Frozen is set in Scandinavian - It's a stretch to even call the film based on the Snow Queen even anymore.. which means using the Snow Queen's origin as a direct tie to HC Andersen a back flip.

Frozen is a story inspired by a danish author set in an ambiguous Norweigan landscape. It doesn't mean Frozen projects Norway or is tied to it... anymore than Cars projects what the United States is about.

I used to live in Los Angeles and was a premium annual passholder for 2 consecutive years. During those years, I regularly visited the Disneyland Resort at least once or twice a week. There were many nights that I would stop by after work, avoiding traffic on the 5 and 405, to have dinner at The French Market and experience a few attractions.

My love for Disneyland is certainly greater, but, being an east-coaster now, Walt Disney World is more convenient.

If anyone saw the "making of Frozen" on ABC a week or two ago, they really went into detail about how they used Noweigien culture in the movie - If that was incorporated into some sort of preshow it would be a huge redeemeing quality

They also traveled to south america to study for Up! - Do you think that roots Up! as an authentic tale of Venezula? Do not confuse efforts to seek and integrated authentic details with the film actually being ABOUT or projecting anything about the setting it is.

You're being naive if you think surveys aren't sometimes designed just to make certain executives look good to others in the company.

I'm sure you think they are all selfish and self centered. Get real, it has a purpose. Sure they love to make themselves look good, but it does (surprise, surprise) serves a real purpose.

Quality surveys from years before Frozen show nothing different then now.

Why not put Frozen in the France Pavilion? As 19th century aristocrats, there is a nice chance that Anna and Elsa learned French and traditions of decorum rooted in the French court. At the very least Elsa would want to make sure there were no anti-monarchist sentiments following the chaos she caused.

How do surveys that do not allow displeasure to be expressed serve an honest purpose?

OK, grteat, I leave for ten hours to sleep and the thread degrades to name calling. Only FIVE comments are looking forwards to the overlay {not including myself} and everyone else is namecalling each other and driving the topic off its rails!

Going to put this here and hopefully make sense.

Maelstrom IS JUST A RIDE

Did ANYONE watch "Making of Frozen" on ABC two weeks ago ? The makers WENT TO NORWAY DIRECTLY sure the STORY of the film is based off a HCA story from Denmark, but the LOCATIONS and PEOPLE in the film were inspired and BASED ON Norway itself! Therefore, the ride will only be down about 15 weeks at best to install the overlay. Since they said it'd be up and running in 2 or less years. That is enough time for them to make the AAs or whatever before installing it.

That said, everyone, even though I'm not a mod, can we all just take a breath and calm down ? This thread is starting to sadden me. Only five folks in the last ten hours are looking forwards to this overlay. Can we please calm down ?

Lovely, inspired by still doesn't equate to actually being Norwegian....

And if you find this thread to be a bit much, you could always check out WDW's FB or Twitter feeds....

I've taken plenty of surveys on Disney prop and have voiced my displeasure on many things.

I once rated a quick-serve resturant a 4 out of 5 and was forced to comment on why it wasn't a 5. So I'm not sure where everyone pulled this theory the surveys are all one sided to make Dis look good 100% of the time.

I'm sure the surveys indeed show just what those in the upper echelons want. A veritable safety blanket of righteousness.....

So what if only 5 folks are looking forward to it? I'll agree that it got a little tense late last night, but the conversations kept moving forward. It was, and still is, a valid discussion.

People aren't happy about this change, for whatever reason they have to go with it.

True it is a valid discussion, but can we keep the name calling out ? Last night I can understand, it did get quite tense indeed, {52 pages in 12 hours!!} But after going to bed and getting up and just getting back here another nine pages and the thread's degraded into name calling. That is what saddens me, people cannot keep things civil and keep name calling out

To which I now have a question; the heck is a EPCOT fanboi ??

Is A Clockwork Orange a work of Russian literature?
