The park has been that way for as long as I can remember. I'm sure there's a reason for it

In a bit of somewhat good news, the polar bear AA from Maelstrom is still in the Central Shop! I even got to press the button to activate its testing sequence — it was awesome, albeit super nostalgic. Interestingly enough people now call it the "Bi-polar Bear" since they had to cut it in half in order to remove it from Maelstrom and you can still kind-of see where they had to cut it.

Yes
It might feel "different" then what is there, but that's because it is. However, were going to continue to see 3D / CG animation more and more. Personally I would love to see something of substance representing "Brave" added. Disney has so many stories to tell and use that I find it slightly annoying when certain IPs are represented multiple times across the parks (Toy Story being one of the biggest examples). I loved Toy Story, but I'd also like to see other IPs used (princess & frog) would be great to include.

The reason was there was originally so much to do in Future World, very few guests would even get near World Showcase until midday, so it didn't make sense to pay for staffing.

That's not true any longer, of course, and the International Gateway means many guests enter from that side, but the tradition has continued, and until someone decides they'll make more money from those early hours than the cost of hiring the staff to man the full showcase, that practice will continue.

Frozen - Live at the Hyperion debuted tonight in California Adventure. There's a lot of trolls in the hour long show, and I bet this will be how the trolls appear in Frozen Ever After at Epcot as well. They look creepier to me than the original Maelstrom trolls! https://blog.disneygeek.com/2016/05/26/frozen-live-at-hyperion-disney-images/

The overall aesthetic may be similar, but the trolls at DCA are designed as masks and costumes for performers, while what we've see of the trolls in FEA are AA's with the facial projections a la SDMT.

Supposedly most of the great Aladdin sets were replaced with simple screens, so I wouldn't go praising it just yet.

From what I've seen, they're blending projections with wagoned physical sets and are effectively using both to expedite transitions while preserving the show's flow. In this setting, going this route is far from a cost measure: They would have saved a fortune sticking with traditional physical sets and drops compared to everything that goes into projections like these.
