Disney College Program

As a College Program Alumni (Hospitality - Spring 2010), former Campus Rep and current Management Intern I would highly recommend you apply for the program. It is an incredible opportunity and will teach you a lot about not only how to work and deal with people, but a lot about yourself. I learned more than I could have ever imagined, had the best time, met friends from around the world and created the greatest memories that I will keep for as long as I live. My decision to apply and accept my spot in the college program was truly a decision that changed my life forever.

That being said, I highly recommend you do NOT do the program as a freshman. Spend your first year at school getting accustomed to college life. It's important to have a base wherever you go to school, find your friends, your new activities, etc. before you venture down here. I've found that many freshman who do the program don't get nearly as much out of the program as those that have waited until their sophomore or junior or senior year. In addition, check with your school; some have limits on what years you can go to get any credit (or keep your student status).

If you have any questions about the program, please don't hesitate to message me personally. I'd be more than happy to help you out! =)

Hello! I had my phone interview on Friday. I'm very very nervous. Even if I do get in, however, staying on track to graduate on time is a big concern that will affect whether or not my parents let me participate in the program. I asked the CM who interviewed me about taking online classes, and she told me that Disney only lets you take up to two classes at a time if you're part of the Spring program. Did she mean two online classes in addition to a class offered by Disney? Because the two class rule would seem so silly to me if she didn't. My twin sister, who also applied for the program, was told she could take no more than 12 credits at once, which makes more sense. I'm confused by this different information though! Any help would be amazing.
Thanks a ton! =)

No, she meant 2 of the Disney classes. Just be aware that you are only guaranteed time off for the Disney classes (you will have to do outside classes on your own time).

You are only allowed to take up to two Disney classes. You are allowed to take as many classes from outside universities as you would like. That being said, I wouldn't suggest taking more than 2-3 classes in total regardless of if they are offered by Disney or by your school. You are going on the internship to work and it's important to remember that. You could work anywhere from 30-70 hours a week depending on the demand of the time of the year which in and of itself will cause stress when combined with multiple classes. Additionally, you want to make sure you have time to enjoy your internship and the fact that you live in DISNEY! It's important to take advantage of all the opportunities afforded to you by being on the program.

I can totally relate to having to finish school in 4 years. That was my parents ONLY requirement for me doing the program and you know what, I didn't take any classes other than an exploration series class which got me not credit and I still finished school on time. Look into loading up credits during the semesters you're at school or look into doing a summer or winter session if they are offered by your school. Bottom line, if you want to do it, you'll be able to do it. Talk to your school advisor and see what your options are. Good Luck!

I know we get our little name badges or whatever during traditions, do you guys know if we could request for our *desired* name to be printed on them? Like a nickname (nothing crazy, just a shorter version of my real name.)

Regarding the nickname on the name tag, my nickname isn't related to my real name at all, but it's nothing crazy it's just a normal name (Reese). Do you think there would be a problem with having that name?

I actually applied for this for next Spring, but I failed the Web Based Interview.:( So, I have to wait until March to apply (I applied o the first day). Any tips to do better on the WBI? Also, I would like to do an online class at my college, but I'm worried that I wouldn't have time with my job to do the class work. And would you recommend to do BOTH an online and a Disney class (I'm seriously considering the Exploring Disney Heritage class)?

Do you think if I am planning on taking classes at my home university on Mondays and Wednesdays, that would be a problem? Also, will I miss out on a lot of the activities by not living at Disney housing? Thanks!

It could be (because you aren't guaranteed time off for outside classes- just for Disney classes).
